Hi, @SunsetRunner, did you set up a PIN?  Have you forgotten it?

I haven't tried, but a factory reset might help: hold all three buttons at the same time for a minimum of 15 secinds.  Let us know if this works.

Hi, @SunsetRunner, did you set up a PIN for your Ionic and have you forgotten it?

If you set up "Fitbit Pay" on your Ionic, then it will automatically demand a device lock and you must set up a PIN. 

Turn on device lock or reset your PIN code in the Fitbit app: From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon (that's the one that looks like an ID card -- a rectangle with a circle and several lines) > Ionic tile > Device Lock.

There you should be able to set / reset your PIN.

My ionic is locked. It says to unlock by using my phone. ?? It's not asking for my pin and I have not set up to use a credit card. I need to know where on my phone I would go to unlock my fit bit so I can use it again.

Mine is locked and I keep typing in a new pin but it comes up with an error, saying it couldn't connect with my ionic. But it's synced with my phone and the stats are updating! Really frustrating.

I do have an update on my watch that needs to be done, is this perhaps the reason?

Can someone please help!!! I've removed all my cards and it's still locked and every time I enter a new pin it won't connect to my ionic. But keeps syncing and updating my friggin step count, just not my pin!!!!!!!!!!

K listen got to the Fitbit app on your phone in the left upper corner where u see the watch and the green battery level press the watch scroll down to device lock click it now when it asks for password use your phones if your phones pin has more than 4 numbers like mine type in 0000 repeat it 4 zeroes now you should be able to disable get on your watch put it on your wrist you will have to re set heart beat monitor

Same issue here.  I have a pin which is usually required when I put it back on after shower but now says to unlock from phone and I don't see anywhere to do that.

A warm welcome to the Community @melby! This error usually happens when the pin has been entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, you just need to unlock your Ionic using your phone: 

1. In the Fitbit app, tap Device Lock settings or the Wallet Tile. 
2. The app prompts the customer to remove payments data. NOTE: This does not remove all the data on Ionic, just the payment data: 
3. Add the cards to the Wallet app. Once the data is removed, the customer can set up Fitbit Pay again.

I have same issue. I am ok to do pin once a day or when I wear the watch, as documented. That was all fine until the tracker upgrades. The first upgrade was in May after which sporadically the ionic tracker will refuse to accept the last digit of the pin. SOmetimes this results in wrong pin scenario. I was overlooking i, but the latest upgrade happened this week, After whichI have not used my watch for payments, just charged it once or twice. This mornign after I remove from charge, it shows device is blocked and from the app, it just keeps looping hru setting new pin bu the traker is just a very expensve paperweight. I cannot believe this level of quality from fitbit. I had been using fitbit for 4 years now and all I can do is curse myself chosing ionic over iwatch series 3.
