ionic slow to wak

I've used Garmin for a couple years, so I'm used to an "always on" watch. Now, I've got this Ionic which takes a couple of times raising my wrist to activate the screen, which still then takes a second to display as I stare at a black screen waiting.

Is this normal? What if I'm in a meeting and want to casually check the time? I have to aggressively raise my wrist? Same while I'm out walking the dog, I have to raise and lower and raise and lower multiple times? How incredibly frustrating.

If this is normal, Fitbit will be getting a unit back and I'll give Apple a shot.

Gah. Topic should say "wake" not "wak." I'm horrified by my typo in the subject line that I apparently can't edit out. Argh.

Sure you can edit your topic and post @leendarains. tap the 3 dots, then edit.

As for screen wake, make sure the forearm is close to horizontal before rotating it 90°.

I bring the forearm closer (within 20° of) then let it rotate as I raise the arm.
