received replacement yesturday. have been trying to update it. it has synced but when updating, it goes to installing then stops and returns to 'got to fitbit.com/setup' screen so cant even use it.
i have tried to update via phone and laptop which i never had an issue in the past on my previous 2 ionics on both these devices.
i have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it
i have unpaired it and re-paired it
i have restarted all devices
what is going on?

same. first ionic got stuck in a boot loop, replacement is... currently setting up for the... 10th time? very frustrating.

I am in the same boat. Got a brand new Ionic on Wednesday this week. It did the same as you described. I called customer service they said bad watch. So I sent it back. Got my replacement today and it is doing the exact same thing! Update fail. Stays on setup screen but app shows sync. What is going on Fitbit???

Am stuck here too, I left it to update last night before going to bed, woke up still hasn't finished, left for the day came back and as of writing still had 1/4 left and looks like it had just stopped there...

very frustrating. ive had my laptop and phone before i got the ionic and it worked fine. this is my 3rd ionic.
1st ionic worked for about a year
2nd ionic was a replacement as an update caused my 1st one to die. this worked for a few months and did the same just went blank and died
so i received my 3rd..........wont up date at all

just done another update process, phone saying installation process meanwhile ionic has gone back
to setup screen

I just got off of the phone with Fitbit support after numerous attempts to setup my Ionic new out of box. Was told that they are very aware of the issue and that is affecting many people (understatement of the year). Rep said it is a software issue on their end and it will be resolved within 24 hours. Being a pessimist, I don't have much confidence that it will be resolved in that time frame. I'm sure that is just a line they are told to feed us. We shall see. There is a nice Garmin on sale I am going to buy if this fails once again tomorrow afternoon.
