Hey there @G33, it's great to have you around the forums! Robot Very Happy Complete the steps below to add connect your watch to a Wi-Fi network:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your watch tile.
  2. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Tap or click Add Network and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your watch.

If you're getting any trouble with those steps... Have you confirmed if your network type is compatible with your Fitbit watch? Your Fitbit watch can connect to open, WEP, WPA personal, and WPA2 personal Wi-Fi networks. Your watch won’t connect to 5GHz, WPA enterprise, or public Wi-Fi networks that require logins, subscriptions, or profiles. If you see fields for a username or domain when connecting to the Wi-Fi network on a computer, the network isn’t supported.

After you verify the network is compatible, plug your watch into the charger and make sure it’s in range of your Wi-Fi network. For a stronger Wi-Fi connection, move your watch closer to your router and note that Wi-Fi won’t work on Ionic when the battery level is below approximately 25%.

If you have trouble adding a Wi-Fi network, complete the steps below. If you have a hidden network, skip to the next section.

  1. Restart your watch by pressing and holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  2. Go back to the Fitbit app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.
  3. If you see other networks appear in the list of available networks, but not your preferred network, move your watch closer to your router.

If you still can't connect your watch to Wi-Fi, continue to step 2.

Remove your watch from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone (known as "unpairing").

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth > your device name > find an option to forget the device.
  2. Go back to the Fitbit app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.

Note that you must set up notifications again after unpairing your watch from your phone.

On the other hand, if you have a hidden Wi-Fi network, it may not appear in the list of available networks under Wi-Fi Settings in the Fitbit app so you'll need to manually add the network in the Fitbit app.

iOS and Windows 10:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your watch tile.
  2. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Under Networks, find the option to manually add a network and enter the network name and security type.

Android:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon > your watch tile.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Tap the 3 dots in the top right corner > Add network manually.
  4. Enter the network name and security type.

Give this a go and let me know how it goes!

So there is not a WiFi Settings in the menu your sending us to start...there is a WiFi setup. However, when this is clicked, it says that the blue tooth is turned off...I can sync the device so that is BS...Except when it actually does turn the blue tooth off by itself from time to time and I have to go back in and turn it back to pair, just to get it to sync...SO What is another solution that will actually work?

I paid good money for this device and I do have an expectation that the thing should be relatively easy to plug and play...really disappointed that I have to spend this amount of time just trying to set the thing up....3 hours to set up to start and several hours trying to get some of the extras to work (unsuccessfully), plus having to "work around" just to get it to sync..really, I have to turn off the mobile link to get the PC sync to work...Really!?

You haven't disabled 5Ghz yet.  You need to go Advanced>Advanced Setup>Wireless Settings and disable the 5.0 radio there.

BTW, people can see your password so you might want to change it or take the image down.

I just got the Ionic a week ago. Connected to WiFi just fine at first. Once it did the update I am unable to stay connected to my WiFi. I find this very frustrating and wish that I would have read all the reviews online where it says that this is a problem for many users. I am glad that I didn't buy the headphones yet, because at this rate I am never going to get the music to work. I am not a satisfied customer.

I'm on OIS and have followed these steps

OS and Windows 10:

From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your watch tile.

  1. Tap or click Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. Under Networks, find the option to manually add a network and enter the network name and security type.

Only trouble is there is no option under networks - nothing shows - just the title 'networks' and under that there is a white box with nothing in it and does nothing on tapping

Iphone Xr always updated to latest OS, Iconic

Same as some other users I guess.  Got this the ionic two weeks ago so I could swim with it.  Everything set up just fine.  Now since I tried this update, it won't connect to my wifi anymore.  Can't get the update to run.  I'm returning this watch to the store. 299 dollars and nothing works.  Just ridiculous

I was going crazy trying to set up wifi on my fit bit ionic watch on my windows 10 desktop computer using the fit bit application.  My home wifi would never show up and I knew that my home wifi was compatible with the ionic.  Why was it not showing up???  I tried everything, an no luck!!!  I almost gave up and then It came to me.

I originally set up my fit bit ionic watch using the fit bit application on my android cell phone not my desktop computer.  I brought up the fit bit application on my phone and low an behold there were my home wifi connections.

I then was able make the watch connect to my home wifi using the cell phone and from there I was able to use the desktop to transfer my personal music to the Ionic watch using the wifi connection.  If you are using more than one fit bit application to connect to your ionic watch you must use the correct one to make the wifi connect.

I thought all the fit bit applications running on all of my devices could do the same thing, but it is clear that they can not.  In my case only the fit bit application that originally set up my ionic watch running on my cell phone was able to make the watch see my wifi connections and connect to my home wifi.  I really hope this helps someone figure out how to connect up to their home wifi so they can transfer music to their fit bit ionic watch.

Read my post at the bottom of this page about how to get your home wifi to show up on your fit bit application.  My name on this post is oldbee,  I hope it will help you see your wifi connections.

The accepted solution did not work for me.  I'm on Windows 10. I'll explain the solution that worked for me.  My network requires a password, and the wifi networks that are locally available only show when the laptop is connected to the watch via blue tooth, so I left blue tooth on.  My network name did show up, but it is unable to connect because it does not have the password.  I did not see 3 dots anywhere to connect manually, but I finally noticed by pure luck that an "add network" option is displayed periodically at the very bottom of the list of the available wifi connections. I clicked on this and then typed in the name of my network, then added the network key (password).  I selected WEP, but this did not work even though it is a WEP key.  I selected WPA and it worked, finally.

This doesn’t work on my Ionic, Bluetooth - forget device, great - go to networks on the app and app says can not locate ionic go back to Bluetooth and ionic is not in the “discovered” devices list. Factory reset time ? This would be the fourth factory reset and update by Bluetooth that takes hours. My device is only two months old. This device is junk and given the number of people experiencing the same problems it is time for a product recall

I had to restart my Ionic.

Ionic will sync with my phone, as I can the daily metrics, but won't update the dashboard

It says wifi is off and it will not give me the option to set up wifi manually

Hiya

You need to set the wifi up from the application , it will only connect when you do this and it is only for setup and moving music etc onto the tracker. The manual isn’t too clear about this, don’t expect Ionic to auto connect to wifi!

I keep getting the error message thtat the tracker has lost the connection

My phone, laptop, Ionic and my wifi hotspot are within 3 feet of each other; all are pointing to the same wifi network

The second message then follows … an unknown error has occurred; try again

You only need to turn on wifi to upload music and you do it from the application on your pc/mac.
Also it looks like the machine you host the dashboard on needs to be able to access the internet in order to analyse your stats and then update the dashboard.
