my Lux ads steps if I shake someone’s hand or shake my wrist or anything like that even if I’m sitting still in the same place, I tested it and tried shaking my wrist over and over again and it added hundreds of steps. What is the deal with this check my sleep sensitivity and it was normal And everything else is normal so I don’t understand and I definitely don’t want to do a factory reset And should not have to

Nothing worn on your wrist can actually tell exactly what your legs are doing. It can only try to infer steps from your wrist and arm movements, regular rhythmic movements that look like arms swinging when walking.  It tries to filter out other wrist and arm movements but cannot be exactly right.  Over the course of a full day, it usually comes out fairly close unless you are doing some obvious non-stepping activity that would fool the fitbit, such as playing the guitar, drumming, knitting.  On the other hand, if you walk on a treadmill handing the hand rail with fitbit wrist so that wrist and arm are kept steady, steps will not be detected.

But these do not affect heart rate which is used for calculating calorie burn and other statistics.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
