Option to recognize major surgery

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just coming off back to back total hip replacements. The steps I can take aren't recognized because there's no setting for using a walker. Post week 2 of the second hip replacement and it's kind of recognizing that I walked a mile with my walker by crediting me with a bike ride?

Guys I am working so hard learning to walk again. How about a setting that recognizes major surgery or illness?

Also could use better recognition of martial arts. Used to doing 5+ hours per week.

Hi, @Mem43, welcome to the community, I trust you will continue to make progress after your major operations. May I suggest that instead of allowing your "Luxe" to auto-recognize your steps you use the exercise icon on your device to "walk", remembering you need to touch the "Go" arrow to get it going. To stop the exercise touch the pause icon, slide up & touch "Finish".

This article How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? contains a brief section on steps and a link to editing. In essence, if you are not moving your arm (holding onto a support or walker) your Fitbit will not register a "Step". In general much has been written about detecting "Steps", here is an example, How to make your fitness tracker count steps more accurately - The Verge, it's not just Fitbit.

If you would like to make a formal proposal  Fitbit Community is the place to go. Check the search bar to see if anyone has proposed something similar where you can vote to make your voice heard. It's quite easy to put forward your own detailed proposal if you prefer.

I hope this helps.

Cheers
