Reminders To Move Won't work on Luxe

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I have had my replacement Luxe for a few weeks and it was operating beautifully, but then a few days ago, the reminders to move stopped working. I have restarted the device, I have UNCHECKED the box on the app but when it syncs it turns it back on, which would be awesome if it was working. I have even unpaired and repaired. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you, in advance.

Hi @Dragongirl1978  did you tell your phone to allow notifications from Fitbit? You told the app, but you also need to tell your phone. I'm using Android 9 with my Luxe and get my hourly notifications. Don't unpair, because sometimes it's harder to get it back. Try checking your permissions, turn off bluetooth, reboot the phone, restart bluetooth and get into your app. Restarting the Luxe is a good idea to try, too. Let us know.

So I am definitely open to trying that, but my concern it I made no changes and it was working for about 2-3 weeks, then suddenly quit. But I will give it a shot, and update the post. I have an iPhone 11 Pro. I just checked, and yes, notifications for the app are turned on on my phone; always have been. But I will give rebooting and restarting and bluetooth on and off a try. I have already rebooted the Luxe several times.

@Dragongirl1978  iOS had an app update August 17th. Did you get the new app?

Yes, I have automatic updates turned on. I did updated it. Just checked. Do you think would there be a benefit in deleting the app from my phone and redownloading it?

@Dragongirl1978  sometimes if you remove the app and your phone is older, you can't download the latest app. As long as you're running iOS 13 and higher, you should be ok to remove and reinstall it.

Well, I did the Bluetooth and restarting of phone and Luxe right before 2:50CT to see if that worked and it did not. So I deleted the app from my phone and got it re-downloaded, and logged back in and synced and stuff, so I guess we will see at 3:50CT to see if that worked. I intentionally didn't hit my 250 steps to see if this is going to work. Thank you for the help, and we will see.

Any luck @Dragongirl1978?  I just recently got a Luxe and the yesterday the reminders stopped on mine too.  I have tried turning them off and back on, with syncing after each.  I have forced quit the app (iOS 14.7.1 on an iPhone 12 mini) and confirmed that all notifications are turned on.  And I'm getting other notifications from my phone, just not the reminders to move.  After being away from Fitbit for over a year, this isn't how I wanted to get back into it.

No, @JeremyKrall and I am getting really frustrated. I have done everything @Odyssey13 suggested, plus more. I have restarted the device, unpaired and re-paired, as well as deleted the app from my phone and put it back on. Turned Bluetooth on and off, and turned reminders to move on and off. When I turn the reminders to move off in the app, it default turns it back on, but that doesn't matter, I am still not getting them. Does anyone else have anything? Please and thank you.

I've watched mine all day @Dragongirl1978 and I get my reminder each hour. I've asked a moderator to stop by to see if they have other options for you.

Mine started working again yesterday afternoon and through the night, without changing anything.  The first reminder this morning worked as well.  Then the reminders have been hit or miss throughout the day.  I happened to notice that sometimes when I launch the app there is a message that the sync failed, though refreshing always has the sync go through.  I remember reading somewhere that the reminder is based in the app and not on the device, so a flakey Bluetooth connection might be causing a concern.

But in your case @Dragongirl1978 I wonder if there is a bigger concern.  The fact that you can't get the reminder switch to stay off tells me there is something in the phone that is keeping that setting.  Deleting the app should remove all those types of settings from the phone, but it sounds like it isn't.  Have you tried changing the setting from the website?  I wonder if doing that would push it to the phone in a different way than through the app and make a change.

I really feel for you.  It is frustrating when tech doesn't work the way it should.  Especially bad with this being a replacement device.

When you flipped the switch online, did that seem to "take"?  Or did the setting still stay on no matter what?

Well, I turned it off on my iPad, synced and it stayed off. So I restarted everything, turned it back on (on my iPad) synced again and hoped for the best. I guess I could try again & leave it off for 24 hours and see if it will do it then. I'm kind of at my wits end. I Work from home and have a really sedentary job (I write websites for small businesses) and sometimes I'm with client on zoom and can't get up but when I'm writing I get lost in it  so really need the reminders to get up.it’s really frustrating and disappointing  this is my 2nd try with this device & it’s still not working properly

I have an update. I unpaired the device and again, and wiped it and started over. It is working now! However, when I double tap it doesn't want to go back to the main screen, so I guess new problem? This is the issue I had with the other one I had to send back, so I just hope it doesn't come to that.

Goodness gracious, what a pain.  I'm glad you're at least able to be reminded to move.  Sorry to hear about the tapping, though I'm also thankful as I didn't even know that was a feature until your post.

I'v also had issues with the tapping on my luxe, though mine was tapping (and swiping) by itself.  The craziest thing fixed it, switching clocks.  I tried the different resets (device and charging cable) with no difference.  Then I found a post that mentioned switching the clock to solve some unrelated issue and figured I'd try it.  As you said you did a wipe and started over I would guess that the clock app was changed, so this probably doesn't apply to you, except to say that tapping isn't something you're alone in dealing with.

I don't know if your issue with reminders has come back @Dragongirl1978, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.  I received my Charge 5 Thursday afternoon and already have had missing notifications, though not reminders to move specifically.  The app has also given me the same message about about not being able to sync until I manually do it.  It seems there is something in the app or the iOS interaction that is causing Bluetooth to be unreliable.  And with so much having to come from the phone, there might not be a lot that a user can do. 😥

@JeremyKrallI am sorry you're having issues. That sucks, but I'm starting to feel like every time they issue a new device there are many bugs, and it's super frustrating they're not what I consider "market ready" because they're not operating optimally. I know some of the stuff can't be worked out until users are doing their things, but then there are no answers when you reach out, which just makes things worse and lowers my confidence in the brand. Although, this is my 4th Fitbit (5 if you include the replacement) so I guess that's not all bad, but it doesn't lower my frustration.

So far, crossing fingers and toes, mine is working okay. I hope you get your issues worked out.

@JeremyKrallA part of me wishes I had waited for the Charge 5 and I am disappointed to hear it's buggy, too.
