Just wondered if there’s any way to delete this inaccurate data!
I woke up this morning to my Fitbit saying I’ve done 4,194,401 steps which is crazy! I’ve actually had this problem once before when it said I’d done about 1million.
I’ve already tried deleting the data for the day. That did delete the steps I’d actually done, but the 4million is still showing.
This is clearly some sort of bug, and it’s really frustrating as it ruins my weekly stats! Is there anything that can be done to actually delete it?
I have a Fitbit luxe. Only about 2 years old. I’m thinking I need to get rid…
Anyway, photos attached of the crazy step count!

I don't know of any way to get rid of those steps, but i think I do know how to prevent this in the future. From phone app Today screen, tap battery icon at top right. If phone is listed as a connected device, delete it unless you are intentionally using it to count steps when not wearing fitbit. It is supposedly to count steps with phone when you are not wearing fitbit, then add them in, but from what I have seen, it causes more problems such as this. I have never used it, but many people who get tens of thousands of steps added every night solve the problem by removing connected phone, often without even having realized they had phone as a connected device to begin with.

Hey JohnnyRow!
Thanks for the response. Yeah I wonder if that could be the culprit! I've disconnected my phone as suggested. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen again.
I've reached out to FitBit support - so perhaps they'll have a way to get rid of the phantom steps 🙂
Cheers!

Just found this. Wasn't aware "Driving" still worked. Looked at 'within the app' and appears just lets you delete by date range, not specific steps.
From 'fitbit.com dashboard' might work if the steps in question were logged as a workout that you can edit to change the exercise type to Driving.

Nice thinking! I gave that a try - but part of the problem is that the 4million steps aren't actually logged correctly. So there's nothing to over-ride:
I still added in 'driving' for 4 hours after 12am, thinking that might get rid. But no luck!
Will continue to wait for FitBit to get back to me.
Appreciate your help so far, JohnnyRow!

That's what I figured.
