2 Months Now Using Fitbit

On the 22nd of February 2016 I sat at my desk at work was tired of being overweight, so I got myself a Fitbit Charge HR at a local sport shop, didn’t think much about Fitbit, just heard in passing that it was good unknowingly not realizing that it would change my life so much. So I am 28 year old man, 1.73m tall, 111kg in weight at the time I started. I have lost 10kg/22pounds in almost two months today.

After about a month on the Fitbit Charge HR, I was so impressed that I ended up getting the Fitbit Surge which was even more powerful. The software for the devices is written very intelligent with nice updates showing the company really wants the best out of their hardware.

But the real truth is that by wearing the fitness trackers I did not magically shed the weight off, I did a lot of reading up on the community and google and now basically my life pattern has been adjusted, and it is working for me, it goes like this;

  1. Cut out starches to a minimum (Compared to eating starches daily).
  2. Eating 5 times a day in small portions (Compared to only 1 daily meal overindulging at supper).
  3. 40 min treadmill training 5 x times a week “HR_130bpm-150bpm” (Compared to playing around in gym).
  4. Eating healthy fresh non processed foods i.e. Veggies & Salads (Compared to KFC & Burger King).
  5. Trying to make more active lifestyle choices i.e. taking stairs instead of the elevator.
  6. Eating chicken, chicken and a lot of chicken occasionally weekends red meat.
  7. Reading up on methods and tactics to improve my fitness.
  8. Learning what calories are, and what a good calorie deficit is “800-1000 for me”
  9. Learning my Basal Metabolic Rate from a dietitian so I have a foundation to work on.
  10. Getting to know all the small stuff like BMI,
  11. Sleeping 6 hours and trying to improve that up to 7-8 (used to a 4 hours of sleep)

I would just like say FITBIT is awesome for making me want to be a better fitter me!

I will be opening a post soon as I stil have questions to ask as I go along.

@Inga recently said the Fitbit is not a talisman. I was almost begging to differ, because it sometimes feels like I’m worshipping mine as if it were one Smiley LOL.

However, you’re right: your Fitbit by itself won’t cause weight loss, or improve your health, or do any other wonders. It’s the actions you take that will do this.

Great you’ve found what worked for you. The basic principle of weight loss is the same for all of us (eat less than you burn), but there’s a myriad of ways to make it happen.

The Fitbit is your first step, a push in the right direction, you have to make the effort to make it work

It doesn't take long to gain weight, but it takes a lot longer to lose it
