Most of my weight loss was in 2016, and my efforts to maintain my healthy weight loss during 2017 have been a success! On 12/31/16 I was 222.2 pounds, and today 12/31/17 I weighed in at 212.0. Successful maintenance (to me) is just as important as the initial weight loss. Are there any other maintenance success stories? Chime in!
Best AnswerI started losing weight in February, reached my final weight destination in early July (70 pounds later) and continue to maintain my weight.
I find that vigilant awareness of what I consume continues to be my best weapon in avoiding slipping backward. I still avoid complex carbs like the plague, will not overeat no matter what, and when I need to binge, I binge on foods that won't clobber me (I love pistachio nuts).
One of the critical elements that inspires me to maintain my current weight is that I never want to go back. I am treated differently because of my being thinner, look better in the clothes I wear and feel so, so much better (I stopped snoring, started running again for exercise and hardly ever get sick). Given the choice between living as someone who's overweight versus someone who's thin, thin wins hands down!

Great post, and congratulations on your successes!
I've discovered that we need to apply the same diligence, heart, and effort in weight maintenance as we did during the weight loss process. I still count calories, exercise, and am still picky about the foods I choose as during the weight loss. I like your use of the term "vigilant" -- it describes exactly what is required.
