Hello, Fitbit community!

I got my Fitbit last month and have successfully done 10,000 steps a day since then. At the beginning of this year, I decided to lose the weight I gained in college. So far I have lost almost 30 pounds. While I am thrilled that I have lost this much, I still have about 20-25 more pounds to go to my goal weight. Since May, my monthly weight loss is only about 2-3 pounds. I can't seem to lose any more than that a month. I eat about 1,400- 1,500 calories a day while incorporating 30-minute spinning exercises a couple of times a week. Is this just how much my body can handle losing a month? Should I be eating more? What are your thoughts?

Welcome to the community, @JoLane07, and congrats for your impressive weight loss!

 

When you keep losing weight for too long (even if it’s at a moderate pace, like in your case), the law of diminishing returns applies: the same deficit that resulted in the loss of one pound will no longer be enough, and you will need an ever increasing deficit in order to achieve the same weekly loss. This is caused by metabolic adaptation: as your body notices calories are getting scarse, it down-regulates your metabolism so as to expend less energy. I suggest you have a look at one of my favorite weight loss resources, the Losing All Your Weight at Once video, by Dr. Mike Israetel.

 

What you likely should do now is switch to maintenance, so as to rebuild your metabolism and be once again in a good place to start your next phase of weight loss.

It’s always good to be fit

Well you need to Lessing your food intake and no much intake of fatty food and when you eat don’t drink water much at the same time it brings out your tummy when you done eating you take little time before you drink water
