Wondering if there are any diabetics out there who are using the FB and working towards weight loss? I'm insulin dependent and trying to lose weight but more importantly trying to regain my health and physical strength while balancing everything. A challenge a day! Love to hear your stories....

I use Myfitness pal.com for years that connects to FITBit. I track everyday and it is the only way for me to be successful. Lost 30 lbs and 2 points lower on A1C.

hi my name is rose .I was on fitbit for a while then I went on sparkpeople .com and it's great... however I have just ordered the fitbit zip, and I hope it will work good . I had the fitbit one you wear on your wrist first and I fried it doing dishes... it counted my steps good . at first I was doing 10,0000 a day then I had too much pain in my feet and knees. I'm diabetic and I have arthritis . I have not been too good at losing any weight ,but a lot of its my fault for not truely trying with a real effort .I am on 2 types of insuline aswell. Im wanting to know if anyone know's how or if you can enter your blood levels aswell . thanks rose1220

I use My Fitness Pal with my Fitbit. I can keep track of my blood sugar on it too! It even prints a graph for me. My doctors like that!

I have my fitness pal premium. It is $50 Usa for a year which is very reasonable. It interfaces with your Fitbit sftware and your Fitbit to pick up the steps and activities you have from Fitbit. What you eat interfaces with your Fitbit software too. It is so cool. You can set your own carb/protien/fat grams and lots of other stuff too. I recommend it. Another bonus, it will interface with an Aria (just got one and will set it up this weekend) and lots of other fitness trackers at the same time it interfaces with your fitness tracker. I still use the Fitbit software for syncing and sleep tracking and I love this group here so I won't give any of it up, but I really like my fitness pal!

I'm bet your A1c dropped below 5.8 with all the changes that you made so far. Now it is about keeping it up for life. Oh the ADA is the American Diabetes Association and they have a website with info.. DrFuhrman.com is the site I like the best.
If you can't walk, dance to your favorite tunes at home.
You are doing great,

Hi Laura,
me too!!! insulin dependent since 16 years old. Been using the fit bit for just a week and it sure has made me realize that I am not as active as I thought I was. My medical team in fact wanted me to get one a year ago but I didn't do it and now I am wondering why it too me so long.
doing the diabetes thing isn't easy, keep your head up and keep moving.

Hi Soapsuds,
What else do you like better than walking? Are you ready for a Zumba class?
Do you need a friend to walk with you? Do you go to a Y or gym or the local senior center exercise class?
Getting active is so vital to improved health.
You can do it,

Diabetic 2, No insulin dependent, only Medication -
I am morbidly Obese. Weight loss at the moment in Month and a half 35 lbs. I have to loose another 100 lbs
Start using fitbit a few weeks ago. It helps me a lot, with what I am calling the Magic Number 10000 Steps.
When I started it was difficult to walk 15 minutes. Now I am walking 30 after breakfast, 30 minutes in my lunch, and Gym after work.
Weekends at 6 am I am in the Gym for couple of hours until i hit 10000 steps, later to the beach or to the pool.
It is difficult, but I do have a lot support from my friends and Wife.
At the moment my walk average 14000 steps a day but lately I am not leaving the Gym without my 20000 steps or over.
Historically my blood sugar levels were over 300 or 400.
Now, My Diabetic Medication was cut and a half by the Dr. My sugars levels oscillate from 94 to 120
High blood Pressure
Same with my Blood Pressure Medication. At the moment I am Using half of the medication and soon medication will be unnecessary.
All this that I do is in coordination with my Dr. I am going to the Dr every month adjusting the medication as soon as my health improves.
We with the Dr scheduling to hit my normal weight in a year. It is not a race, it is a marathon and most important is the journey, how we transform my body.
Wife, Friends and coworkers are all supporting me every day.
My desicion is strong but that whole team support is super important.

Truly inspiring post Juan,
You are saving your life and organs with these changes. Super good BG changes and all with only 35 lbs gone now. Amazing. Work at it like you are and you will make your goal sooner than you think.
