Christmas 2016 to Valentine's Day 2017 Challenge

ANSWERED

Welcome all Challengers!  What an amazing group we have!

Let's all continue together to take off the excess pounds and keep getting healthier.

This challenge will begin on Christmas and finish on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

All you need to join this challenge is to post your stats regarding your weight, and check in weekly or as often as you'd like. We are a great support group and enjoy keeping up with each other and being there for our ups and downs.  Generally we have found that the more we check in and offer support, tips, info,  and ideas to others, the more we get for ourselves.

We list our weight, as well as any other goals we might have related to being healthy (such as increase water, more active minutes, etc).  Developing good health habits is primary.

A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new.

USW- Ultimate Starting Weight

CSW- Current Starting Weight (for this challenge)

GW- Goal Weight   (for Feb 14)

UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight   (what your healthy target weight is)

PW- Previous Weight

CW- Current Weight

MFP- My Fitness Pal

List as much info as you like.  Some people include age, gender, height....whatever seems relevant to you.

We keep it as serious or light as we feel, but we always keep it focused on being as healthy as possible, while we support each other kindly.  We can do this together!!

The activity that seems impossible today, will soon be your warm-up

Good news: I won my StepBet challenge and the payout should be just shy of $49 (on a bet of $40).

Not happy about this stupid weight yo-yo. I'm walking the same or more than usual, and I'm eating right, so what the ...? But oh well. How's everyone else doing?

Best Answer

Ok, revelation time. I got on the treadmill tonight for the first time in weeks. I've been walking at the mall so much that I haven't needed to use it, but since we have this blizzard today, I decided to dust it off. My average heartrate on the treadmill was 148!!! It recorded as 'run' on my fitbit. When walking with Mom I usually average 120 and if I do a workout in my livingroom I struggle to get over 110. The incline helped a lot. I guess the exercise I've been relying on hasn't been difficult enough. I'm going to increase the pace at the mall and use the treadmill more. I know I've been having trouble with lack of exertion even though I've tried, but my joints just can't take impact at my weight and I'll hurt myself. This will make all the difference.

I'm feeling encouraged in starting the new challenge with this in mind. Water, exertion, veggies. Got it...GO!

I started "Valentines Day to April 18th" yesterday, @terryrunning.  It was originally April 18th but since the American "Tax Day" is on the 18th this year, I changed it.  That way, we can either Feast or Fast on the following Day, depending upon how brutal Uncle Sam was to us this Year and how much if any, we're getting back.  Woman Wink

And for our Neighbors and Friends across the Sea, please forgive my gall in selecting a Goal Date that is meaningless to y'all!  Woman Frustrated

Here's my final weigh in:  I did horrible for this one, gained 6 pounds!  But there's nothing like a crushing defeat to motivate me.  I'm going to the gym more often, so hopefully between that and longer days getting here soon I'll be able to get more activity in.  I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone else did, though!

Final check in for this challenge. 10lb gone but my goal had been 11. Hahaha. So, I still consider that a win. I've posted in the new challenge already, so I'll meet everyone there!

Thank you to the host of this challenge. Like always, it's been a real boost to the morale and motivation. *applause*

New goal is 16lbs and I'm gonna beat that **ahem** doctor's scale that has been taunting me for years. *Grrrr* it's going down!

Thank you for posting this challenge. I look forward to the next one!

Didn't make my goal. Still at 168. Gotta figure out how to break that and move on down. Will be working harder this next round. I'm walking more and doing other exercise videos that helps other muscle groups as you walk and I'm in the under target range for calories in and out. So I should be loosing weight. Guess I need to change up what I'm eating next. Have pretty much cut out red meat and a lot of sugar. Oh well, on to the next challenge!

Well I didn't make my goal, but I am ok with it. I have come to terms with this. I slowed down, so the weight loss slowed down. I most definitely won't be giving up! I just have to get back in gear for this next challenge. I will succeed in my journey, it may just be slower than I had hoped, but I will succeed

I hope to see you all in the next challenge!

The thing is I did really well this last week. Thursday had me 166.3. We did eat out so i made sure to get more steps. My eating was poorer this last week. So thats more than likey why my the scale didnt reflect what I was hoping for. I also dont feel like Ive been sleeping as well as my fitbit is reflecting.

Today is my 10 year wedding anniversary. Not sure what we're doing yet. Besides packing and getting things in order as My daughters and I are flying out to San Diego(home) tomorrow morning. Will be out of town for a week. Family to visit and a wedding as well. My husband will join us saturday but leaving sunday as he has work. I already know I will be going over board with the eating but hopefully movement wil be fine. Taking a glance to the last time i went home- I managed to get all my steps in.

Cant wait to meet you all in the next challenge.

Congrats to all who made their goal  Smiley Very Happy

For those of you who havent- Keep going! Slow and steady wins the race.

Lost two pounds in the challenge but I'm happy because I have been bouncing around 215 for 3 years. Starting to see a more regular loss, family is getting behind my attempts and helping out more so I can get to the gym or cook at home.

@Brujita Thanks for your graphic post.  Too many of us read so quickly we didn't see the small print about the next challenge.  Or we were waiting for @Bobbinyc or @dancefoxtrot to start it.

I guess I should post this there.
