Deaf College Student looking for tips

Hi!

So I am a deaf graphic design major, third-year transfer student here at Ohio University. I recently graduated from a Community college in visual communications where I obtained an Associate degree. Lately, I've been trying to motivate myself to eat healthier. My only issue is to try and stay away from pop; especially Mountain Dew (and I'm addicted to mountain dew) and to stay away from junk food. I'm trying to teach myself what kind of healthy options to eat when I am at the University's cafeteria for lunch/dinner. I don't eat breakfast that much, but If I do it's either a bowl of cereal or a granola bar. I typically eat chicken (if its fried, bad, I know), french frieds, hot dogs, or pasta with alfredo sauce on it or just those anti-immunity pasta (its a new pasta recipe that OU is doing i think?). If I am not in the mood for either of those things I typically go to the salad bar and make myself a salad that has the green lettuce in it, mozerella cheese, carrots, and cold cut fried chicken that they pre-made with ceasear sauce or ranch (if neither one of those are out). But I always manage to get fruits in my meals.

But this week I've been trying to eat healthier, I had basically eggs all day yesterday; easy over eggs (with the runny yolk) with bacon, saussage, and cheese on top with apple juice for lunch then dinner was an omlet mix with cheese, spiniach, diced tomatos, bacon, ham, and saussage with a drink for dinner yesterday as well. Today i just basically had chicken parmesan for lunch, with redskin quartered potatoes, a pasta salad and mountain dew for lunch and the 90 calories granola great value bar. Later tonight i'll be eating the healthy choice chicken margarita after my club meeting.  I feel like I have no idea what i'm doing as to trying to pick healtheir options towards food and finding subsitutes to carb my craving for soda. But I've been forcing myself to drink more water yesterday and today. But I managed to get to the gym, where I try to work out for an hour tops. If anyone can give me advice/tips that would be great.

Thanks!

I too had a hard time eating better foods in college, but as you mentioned pop/soda can be the first devil to tackle. I am hopelessly addicted, but did significantly better in college when I didn't have money to go out. I restrained myself to just one soda at lunch and dinner, then just one, then none. Whether or not you've already quit that stuff, I definitely think once you start realizing water has flavor you're way more open to trying "tasteless/gross" healthy foods.

Hopefully that makes sense to you; good luck! 🙂
