Defeating the "it's cold out", "I travel" and "no time" lies

My wife and I live in a condo here in NY State. Not a lot of room for a treadmill, and as you may have heard, we've been getting snow dumped on us like crazy. Last week I was in Atlanta during that freeze/shut down, in a rather dead hotel. Lots of reasons for me not to get my steps. Instead, I hit my record in steps thus far (16,000 for one day).  What's the trick?

At home: get UP when you watch TV. I'll wander around within sight of the TV. As long as I don't block my wife, she's supportive of me - she knows what I'm trying to accomplish. I also go up and down the stairs a lot here. In the bedroom, on days that I work from home, I walk around while on calls when possible.

On the road: I actually walked the hotel. Seriously, started on floor two and walked the circuit, then took the stairs to floor three. Continued that up to five, then did the rounds back down to two, and back up to my third floor for my end of evening. Keeping my clip pretty quick, I got in some GREAT steps AND calories burned AND intense time AND stairs.

So, at the end of the day, it's always possible to get your steps. The space may be smaller, it might be a little less fun, but stay off the couch, and get those steps!

Yeah, its the small stuff that adds up. It might be TMI ....but at work I now drink a lot of green tea (instead of coffee).  Rather than make frequent trips to the bathroom along the corridor I go to the one down two flights of stairs.  Its amazing how such a seemingly small change adds up over time.

And if you are drinking "a lot" of that green tea youwill be making that trip "a lot" also - so it will add up even faster

And it probably more effective and healthier than most of the weight loss solutions on the market!
