February 2017 Step Goal Challenge.

ANSWERED

How It Works:

The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for February, 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 28 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.

Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day

Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format

1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.

2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 28.

Optional

3) Post either your constant or variable calories burned goal.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 28.

Injury Notice

If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

I forced myself to have a rest day yesterday since I'd been going 7 days/week for months without rest. Tired and sore and just needed to rejuvenate. Back to it today.

Monday!

Despite my daughter being home sick, I managed to get to the gym last night and RAN for the first time in a very long time. It felt really good!

Monday:

Steps (10,000): 13,348

Calories (2600): 2602 (Just squeaked by there 🙂 )

So far this month:

Steps: 6/28

Burn: 4/28

Moo (my daughter) is home sick again, but she said she'd watch me "dance" (do the Walk Away the Pounds DVD) if I wanted her to. The kids love that Mom wants to be skinny like them. I keep telling them I just don't want my knees and hips to hurt so darn much anymore, but they're fixated on the skinny. :eyeroll: Kids!

Decided for Feb to actually drop the steps to 10,000.  I realized after a year of increasing activity, higher burns, etc. I was slowly reaching the burned out phase.  I have a history of this (twice ending up hospitalized because in general I was doing too much on too little food).  Although I'm not there yet, I've decided to see if I can be smarter about this for a month.  Last week I counted nothing, but quickly realized that if I didn't set any goal I was going to have some really low days.  So, I've set the goal to 10,000 steps a day, and although I originally set a calorie burn goal I'm not going to.  As a side note I've also dropped my deficit to 750 cals a day.  Last week, paying attention to nothing, and finishing up the ice cream in the freezer and dark chocolate, etc. still ended up down a little.  The first 100 pounds was good (~ a year) but the next 100 probably needs to be slower.  For me, not necessarily for others.

Well I will join in a tad late, but better late than never. I haven't had the best first week of the month, but we will go with it anyhow. If I can seem to get things to pick up I will change my goal later, but I am going lower than most and will do the variable as well. I seem to be able to do better during the week and don't do as well on the weekends. So I will go with 8000 steps on Monday thru Friday and 5000 on Saturday and Sunday. So if I go back through and look at my days so far, I have made it on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th. So I guess as of now, I am a 4 out of 28.. I got a glider so I am hoping this will improve quickly. I have to make myself use it...lol.

I feel very accomplished! My daughter officially has the flu (the flu shot this year had horrible mutation coverage), so she was still home yesterday. And today. And likely she and her twin will be home tomorrow.... And yet I managed to amuse her with the "Four Mile" Walk Away the Pounds DVD (it's not actually four miles, btw). I'm hoping to work out tonight, but I might not be able to. If not, I'll be under today, but I'm okay with that. Extenuating circumstances, right?

Well, didn't hit my goal yesterday, but I did get a short workout done, so I'm counting it as a win, given the kiddos and the flu. I have come down with it myself but I'm starting on tamiflu today, so hopefully I'll be better soon and won't have too much downtime. Kids are, I think, going back to school tomorrow. Even an hour walking slowly on the treadmill would be nice right now. 🙂
