Friends for 50lbs

Hello,

I'm new to the fitbit community as I just recieved my Force just before Christmas.  I'm having lots of fun with it but looking for people to compete with me in steps, stairs & losing 50lbs in the year of 2014.  I would love some motivating people on my friend list.

Please add me if you have similar goals and interests.

Hi,  I am also new and received mine for Christmas too.  I had double knee replacement on Oct 21st and have just gotten back on my feet.  Slow going not many steps per day yet, but trying to up the # each day.  I am hoping to lose about the same # of pounds.  I'm off to a slow start for sure, but looking foward to seeing progress.  Best of luck.

Hi Lecea. I am also new to the fitbit. Received it for Christmas and have enjoyed using it for 3 days now. I am wanting to lose 50 lbs as well. I have started the med-hard program to lose 30 by the end of May 2014. I would be honoured to be on your friend list and motivate eachother through the highs and maybe a low.

I too, have had a total knee replacement at age 46 due to sports injuries and surgeries to my knee. It was not totally successful - gave me a new knee joint but took away range of movement and created chronic pain. I have been limited to what I am able to do the last few years and almost gave up.

I need to lose weight but need to find non weight bearing exercises to do until to put less pressure on my knee(s).  I have started spinning and TRX and it has been good.

I think the fitbit will help me through some obsticiles. I like how easy it is to log food, actiivities, etc. I tried on-line weight watchers and gave up.

Hope to ttys

Cheryl

Hi,   I would love to be your friend as well.  Maybe we can help motivate each other.  I would also love to lose some weight and up my activity level.  Let's hope fitbit will help keep us motivated and on task.  Carol

Cheryl,  Sorry to hear that your knee replacement didn't go well.  You had it done at such a young age.  It is very difficult to exercise when your knees hurt all the time.  I read somewhere that if your doing a spin class, the fitbit can go around your ankle and thus count steps.  Not certain this works but it sounds like it would.  I've been considering getting a recumbent bike.  At therapy they had me using one with bad knees.  Hope this helps.  Carol

Hi Rubygirl,

Yes I had both done at once.  As they say I didn't have a leg to stand on.  Most painful thing I've ever done, but I'm on my feet once again and moving slowly.  How has your recovery been going?  Hopefully well.  Let's keep in touch and see if we can keep up with these healthy folks.  Carol

All of you ladies with your knee surgeries. I hope your all on the mend. Cheryl I'm sorry to hear about your chronic pain.  Glad you found spinning and TRX (?) works for you.

Hi Runner - I've had a Fitbit for almost two years.  I also have lost weight on Take Shape for Life...28 lbs. to be exact.  I still want to lose another 10 and am struggling to get it off since it has gotten harder to lose.  I want to add more walking to help me do that.  My time is very limited, but I'm hoping that if I see those steps go higher on my Fitbit that will help get those last 10 lbs. off.
