How many of you have established a goal weight loss goals? Have you also established benchmarks or a timeline in which you would like to achieve those goals?

SMART!
Specific: 100kg, weighing at the start of the day in my usual work clothes on the calibrated scale used at work.
Measurable: See above!
Agreed/Achievable: Goal set in collaboration with my wife and GP. Either of those people have my authority to stop me at any point if they feel my physical or mental health is suffering. Achieved previously (but admittedly, not recently!).
Realistic: 100kg in addition to being a nice round number is mid-point of "overweight" range of BMI for my height. "Healthy" weight with my frame size is anything but healthy! I played quite a lot of my rugby at 100kg and always felt fit and strong.
Timed: By the end of this year.
1 Jan: I weighed 142kg. That meant losing 0.8kg/week.
Current: 116kg. Required rate of loss is now just 0.6kg/week.
My health is much improved!

I work in small goals - my next goal is 5lbs from now - hopefully by the time August is over. My ultimate goal is to be in my healthy weight range - 30lbs from now. But really my brain can only handle small goals. I have lost 52 since January 10, but my loss is so much slower now. I'm okay with that as I continue to build muscle.

nope. I just knew I wanted to be thinner. So I started losing weight without any timeframe or number in mind. I figured I would know it when I got there. I started at 200 pounds in April of 2013. I ended up 148 pounds by end of June 2013. I joined a gym and was 142 pounds by July. I went to Disney and came back 140 pounds - lots of walking and lots of paying attention to what I ate- you have no idea how accommodating folks are in prepping special order low calorie food. I stayed at that weight until October of 2014 - went on a business trip, came back 138 pounds and decided to lose 3 more just because I could. I have been 135 pounds (except on Sunday and Monday) since.
I think for most people goals work and its a destination. For me, I just need to do it and not focus on when and what. Just the how- one foot in front of the other- I'll know when I get there.

I have not set a specific timeline. I have done that a bunch of times in the past and have found it demotivating when something comes up that causes me not to be able to reach it.
My goal is simple, I just want to keep getting at least 10,000 steps everyday and keep logging a 1000 calorie deficit (for me, an actual result more consistent with a 750 calorie deficit). Whenever I've lost enough where a 1000 calorie deficit is too hard, I'll drop to a 750 calorie deficit. I don't see that happening until I drop into the 160's or so. So far, I've gotten my 10,000 steps and a decent deficit for 82 days now.
I can control how many steps I get and I can control how many calories I eat most of the time. The scale will move when it wants to. 🙂
I guess I would say that I would prefer to be out of the 200's this year. But, at the same time, what I'm doing is easy and consistently working, so, I think I'm going to keep trying not to sweat the fact that it's a bit slow. 🙂 I've been losing at a rate of 1.4 lbs per week. If that continues, I should be around 190 lbs by the new year.

My starting goal was to lose 49 pounds. Have 32 pounds to go.

@emili - 52 lbs in 2 months is a lot. I'm just curious but how did you accomplish that?
Since January 3rd, I have lost a little over 30 lbs. I was at 160 lbs and now I'm currently at 127. My original goal was to get down to 130 by my birthday, June 21st. I'm all about goals. It's what keeps me focused. Now that that goal is complete, my next goal is to get down to 125 and then start recomp.

@Mukluk4 lol. Beer. Wine. Gin. They happen. And when they happen, pretzels, nuts and combos (obsessed) happen. I pick up close to two pounds in water and salt.
@justMonica it was all of April, may and June. Strict nutrition, no excercise because low calorie.
