Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

I am now coming to the end of my journey after starting at 266.  I am down to 205 with a body fat of about 14%.  Now I have to figure out how to level off and maintain the gain.

I started loosing weight before I got my fitbit by going on a ketogenic diet. My charge-HR fitbit and Aria scale are just two more tools to help me track my activities and progress.
I went from 82 kg down to 71 kg over 3 to 4 months, along with a body fat% drop from 24% down to 13%. Lost 11 kg which is about 24 lbs.
I have since gone back to eating carbs but I do pay a lot more attention to how much and the type of carbs I am eating.

I got my Blaze at the beginning of June and have lost 24lbs. I started hill walking at the same time, but also changed my calorie intake. I still eat unhealthy stuff, just much less of it. My initial goal was to lose 50lbs so halfway there - absolutely gonna do it, and be back to my weight of twenty-odd years ago.

Also my dog has lost a couple of lbs too so she has a more defined shape now  🙂

Good for you.  Both of my dogs have lost a couple of pounds too.

Have you tracked your body fat too?  That has changed so much for me.

Best Answer

I did, was 35% now 31% I guess that's OK - people have noticed at least, which is nice 🙂

I don't really have a % goal, I guess weight / fitness is my priority and I certainly feel much fitter than I did 2 months ago.

My weight goes up and down, but due to love of food not dislike of exercise.  My Fitbit keeps me motivated, and the badges really help.  Often I'll do a little more walking just to get to the next 5,000 step badge for the day.  I'm really happy I let myself be talked into buying one.

I lost 10 lbs in the first month, but after another two months I'm still waffling around at that same weight.  I have my goal set to burn 750 cals more than I eat, and while I sometimes cut that down to 400-500 cals on any given day, I should still be losing.  Either I'm eating way more than I am tracking (even though I try to be as accurate & honest as possible) or the amount burned is not as high as the fitbit shows.  I just don't know.

Got my 50lbs lost badge last week. Started this year at 214 and am down to 163 today. The year before that I was up near 235 but I was not trying to lose weight last year so I do not count the almost 20lbs I lost last year. If I did I would be down 70lbs in almost 1 year.

Some of the first weight lost is always water weight - less sodium usually eaten and less carbs stored with attached water.

Metabolism lowers from that latter item.

Does accurate food logging mean by weight, not volume?

Because calories is per grams, not cups or spoons.

So that could be part of the reason now if not going by weight.

And depending on how extreme your deficit was, your body indeed may be slower now than what Fitbit would be estimating for a healthy full-burning average body.

For that 750 deficit - you got over 30 lbs to lose to healthy weight?

If not a stressed out body adapting would not be unheard of.

Of course - keep eating less and less and you will start losing again - though a stressed out body can start retaining upwards of 20 lbs of water - that should stress you out pretty good not seeing any results for weeks/months on the scale - though measurements should show good results.

But workouts eating bare minimum usually suck - so if you are working out hoping to transform the body - you'll get the least bang for you buck using that method.

Or eat more with less deficit, have more energy, burn more daily, better workouts, transform body more, and like lose the same amount.

I suggest get a thorugh Doctor check up including getting hormone levels tested and for yeast issues. Both can play havoc with getting results. You can then tweak your eating plan with foods that combat any health issues if any present.

Yea goin to a doctor with help, he/she can marks sure u not Cutting to many calories out of ur diet. Not eating enough can hurt u too.

Thanks for all the input!  I don't believe I ever DON'T eat enough.  I measure food at home on a food scale by weight, but when eating out it's harder and have to estimate by individual ingredient.  Also, I am hypothyroid and have my hormone levels tested regularly.  As my doctors put it, hypthyroid plus the onset of menopause will make it hard to lose, even though I do have 25 lbs to lose to be at a healthy, comfortable weight.

The hardest thing for me is cutting carbs.  I keep working on that.  I've never before been at a point where I've upped my exercise so much and don't lose, so I really think that excess carbs are my problem.

That is generally true, it is not always the case.  Many charts on the nutrition level of foods will list by cups, or portion of a cup, and some will list both volume & weight. So, this depends on the system used to record the foods consumed. This is an example of one food from the on-line charts my doctor provided - it shows both the volume & weight measurements:

Welcome to getting older; if I was to have run as many miles as I run now back in my 20s, I would have wasted away to nothing.  🙂

I turned 50 in January, it's just another day.  If I knew in my 20s what I know now I would have been lighter decades ago.  Ah well, you can't change the past, only the future.

I go to the gym at lot, and when I'm on the treadmill or at a machine, I sometimes have to remind myself that I just can't do what some of the others can.  I'm 43, and while I look and feel young......well I'm not.  But I'll tell you, it does spur me on, to at least get closer to them.  It's motivating me to get healthier, not just to look better, but to make the workouts easier.  It's a grind, but most things are.  Good luck to anyone who tries.
