Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

25 lb in almost 3 months , I walk , I run I cycle , no diet just exrta movement25 lb in almost 3 months , I walk , I run I cycle , no diet just exrta movementI do every month now  , it is possible to retain more than 2LB of water to 5 LB in  day according to a doc, so after a week of a very hard work out I was so disappointed I gain 2lb , but then next day I was 2lb less , water retention , now for my quiet mind going on scale once a month and always happy  with the result  , you also gain muscle in the process so don;t be disappointed if you lose less as expected , I did not follow the green mark on the app , I got always below it , not everyone burn 2000 calories a day , mine is 1790 , so I tried to keep my food below the green line and leaving always 500 calories , guess what I lost almost 25lb in a less than 3 months , of course everyday no less than 30 min to max 2 hours of activity , walk, run, bike and I eat what I want no diets as it never work for me , movements YES , according to the app I still have around 20 lb to go to hit my perfect weight with 20% of fat but now I take it easy 3 times a week .

if you want to speed up the weight loss and get rid of water weight fast try fasting for 24 hours, all of your water weight will be depleted and when you work out stay in your "fat buring zone" so that your body only uses fat cells for fuel and not glycogen (carbs)

Fasting and work out is a bad idea in my personal case I tried everything before trust me , good healthy cardio will do it better for you , your muscles and your heart .. in short sweat it out ! and stay hydrated.

  1. Fat burning zone will not burn as much fat in overall but good for the newbie to lose the extra water weight .  I am on the level that I have hard time to sweat and fast walking will not put me into fat burning zone anymore , I need to run between to warm up and kick my heart , however in the beginning of my journey  I was sweating like a pig while fast walking on the edge of exhaustion lol I have fantastic job sitting 12+ hours in front of my monitor having fun as graphic designer , but the lazy times are over for me , and the fact that I did not changed my diet at all but added more movements , changed everything . I always blamed everything on the food, age  and I am not big eater  , and the truth is ,  I just missed more movements  !

Your weight can naturally fluctuate by as much as two pounds or even more a
day depending on many factors. Don't fret over up and downs from one day to
the next. Rather focus on the general trend over a week.
If you record your weight each day on the fit bit site it will give you
what your weekly average is, focus on trying to have a lower average weight
each week.
If you track every day and keep a log of what you eat, how you feel etc.
You may get to a point where you can almost predict what your weight will
be.
I weigh myself each morning and I have a pretty good idea before I even
step on the scale as to whether I am going to be up or down from the
previous day.

So far, I"ve lost at least bit each day.  Might only be a 0.1 of a pound but it is progress.  Do you log your food intake?  And do it accurately.  I seemed to have calorie creep.  When I started logging eveything that went into my mouth I realized I ate a lot of little bites here and there that added up.

Best Answer

@aallison28 I did log in my food in the first 2 months , then learned from a lot , now I do it in my head automatic , the app is good to learn about food source and find your ways . I still check the food labels if I try something new .  I feel you on the small bites , sometimes people think less is better not knowing that are actually the hidden calories .  However 500 calories from donuts are not the same than 500 calories from fruit and here is the difference .

I used to log my food like KatarinaH but not anymore. After a couple of months I got a pretty good feel for how much I am consuming and how much I am burning off. I have a fairly good idea as to whether I am trending up or down based on how I have been eating and working out (or lack there of).

Besides I weigh myself each day so that is a very clear indication, right now my goal is maintenance, or rather working on getting back down to my maintenance weight. I let things go a bit over the holiday period, now its time to reign in the eating a bit and ramp up the exercise.

I am a about 2.5 kg ~ 5 lbs above where I want to be. I know what I need to do to get it back down and I know how quickly I can get it done. I am aiming for about 1 to 1.5 months to drop the weight.

Since I am at only about 13.5% body fat according to my Aria scale the weight will come of more slowly.

Current Weight : 71.7 kg ~ 157 lbs (13.4 % Body Fat)

Goal Weight: 69 kg ~ 152 lbs (11% - 12% Body Fat)

Starting Weight: 77 kg ~ 170 lbs (April 2016) (19% Body Fat)

Max Weight: 91 kg ~ 200 lbs (late 1990's to early 2000's) (probably close to 25% Body Fat)

It depends a bit on your mind set, if you can handle seeing a day or two where your weight is up slightly (1 - 2 lbs) without getting all worked up or depressed about it, then weight your self each day.

I prefer it because then I can see my average trend over the week. If you only weigh once a week and your "high" weight day for the week happens to be that day that might depress you more. By weighing everyday and watching the trend it can be easier to "brush of" that higher weight day if the rest of the week you were down.

It all depends on how you deal with seeing daily fluctuations.

So much of it for me was to understand EVERY MOVEMENT COUNTS....I've had MS for about 28 years now....I'm stable and doing well....on and off with yuck medicines, etc.  But had a spiritual awakening that helped me look at everything differently about two years ago....

at my highest I weighed 237 around 2005...lost 45...gained some back....started at 223 last January 2016...

fitbit acquired in APRIL....

I weighed 188 in early november....I go up and down about 5 from this lowest weight....

Aiming for 160.

I don't want to advertise....but, yeah, I DO.....truthfully my MIND had to change before my weight and activity could....Thank you SCALE DOWN.  Get the book.

I recently got my FitBit for my birthday in November. Around my birthday I weighed at 247 and currently im at 237.5. I have not really changed much but I would say that the fitbit has helped me gage what I am doing and what I eating making the decisions hit home harder. I always believed, just as they said in the Good to Great book, that technology is not what drives performance, technology only aids it. Before I got my fitbit I had decided to be the change and make sure that whatever happens is because of me. Working out and eating healthy has helped me with that mantra but in other areas. Good luck to you!

i weigh in daily or at least when i get to the gym but mainly to gage what I eat, drink, what exercises I will do. It is really up to you and what your goals. But I would start off with weekly so if you fall of a day or two, does hard days will not demotivate you.

The biggest help I found for me is not to eat after 8pm +\- this does wonders the next morning when I step on the scale :-). I just recently purchased the Blaze and love to keep track of what I eat vs what I burn. -5lbs so far in the first month, 25 more to go.

Good Luck Everyone!

Vadim.

At 5 weeks now, lost 10lbs. Wanted to lose 2 a week, did not expect to make it happen, very pleasant surprise. So far so good.

Once again, 30 minutes or more daily exersize and no food 2 hours before sleep seems to work wonders for me now.

I started working out in June, when I weighed 224 pounds. When I bought my Fitbit on July 4 I weighed 215 pounds.

It's disappointing, but I haven't lost that much weight, at least compared to my goal.

I'm at 184 as of a couple days ago. What do you think I need to do to have success?

Best Answer

If you only weigh around 130 pounds I wouldn't try to lose any weight at all.

Y is that,  I want to get down to 115. I'm under 130. I don't think I will hurt me to lose a few pounds

Best Answer

Yes, I have lost 10 pounds since I got my fitbit in August. Lost 9 lbs prior to purchasing my fitbit. I was following simple "diet" plan:  It's called Eat half, exercise double, laugh triple. Very simple but effective. Fitbit has motivated me to keep moving and provided an easy way to track what I eat. My wife, who has never been overweight asked for fitbit for Christmas. She said she was impressed with how I had changed my body by losing weight and toning up.

Hi,

I have lost 1.7kg (3.8 lbs) since I got my Fitbit which was 28th Nov, 16.

However, I'm using the Fitbit in combination with my fitness pal for logging food and then synch it with my Fitbit. I do kickboxing 3-4x/week and go to do the gym twice/week and have a rest day. My weight loss slowed down recently because of the big weight loss I had previously.

I think food comes is a lot more important than being active when it come to weight loss. Before getting the Fitbit I have been using the MFP for weight loss by just eating healthy and <1,200 cals/day.

And I lost 8kg (17.6 lbs) between July and Nov. However, I was also being quite active going to the gym 4-5 times/week.

So my advice would be to not only be more active but take care of what you eat. There is not point in walking a couple of miles/day but then go home and eat fast food or sweets.

And give yourself plenty of time to see a difference. Don't be discouraged by any increase of weight you might have on your weight loss journey. I tend to have +/-1kg (2.2 lbs) of weight difference during the week.

I really hope my answer helps !
