Just interested in how other folks view things and would answer the following questions. Maybe we can learn from eachother.
What is the most successful way to maintain a healthy body weight?
- excercise more and eat the same.
- eat less and exercise the same.
- regular exercise and a well balanced healthy diet.
- regular program of sitting on the couch and eating.
What are the two factors that cause an increase cardio fitness level?
- speed/pace & time
- heart rate & speed/pace
- speed/pace & stride
- heart rate & time
Why are over half of americans overweight or obese?
- too much technology makes people lazy.
- too much fast food and too big of portions.
- too many fad diets and too many quick and easy workout plans.
- all of the above.
How much weight is safe to lose per week?
- one lb.
- two lbs.
- three lbs.
- four or more lbs.
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
- one.
- two.
- three.
- ask mister owl.

A healthy diet is very important with at least a moderate amount of exercise every week.
Q2: 1
Perform cardio at a pace which is manageable for you for a set period of time. As your fitness improves, increase the pace and the length of time of the exercise. Naturally, your heart rate will improve as your fitness improves.
Q3: 4
I don't live in America but it appears to me that people eat a lot of junk food, they don't exercise regularly and they expect quick results with fad diets and easy workout plans but they aren't willing to put in the time and effort that is required.
Q4: 3
Somewhere around 1-2Kg per week is an acceptable amount.
Q5: 4
Actually, I have no idea.

1) To MAINTAIN a healthy weight the answer is 3. Losing weight is a different matter altogether.
2) Intensity and time..I guess the answer is 4. HIIT is as good as anything.
3) Americans are fat because the food industry and 'health care experts' have created an environment where eating obscene amounts of sugar and refined starches is seen as 'ok'. None of the above.
4) Safe weight loss depends on how much blubber a person has. The more blubber, the safer it is to lose more per week.
5) 3 and 4 are correct...Mister owl said 'three'. 🙂

Regular exercise and a well balanced diet withing you caloric range for daily consumption. Even a healthy person who eats nutrionial diet can overeat. Even an extra 100 calories a day can lead to weight gain.
Speed/pace and Time. The harder you workout, the more calories your burn, the harder you can workout the next time. Heart rate will also go up as you intensity goes up.
Americans are overweight because they eat too many calories each day, and most of us are sedentary all day long, and get no exercise. Portion sizes are too big at just about every resturant in the country. We also eat crap and drink tons of soda. Bottomline most of us just don't eat a healthy diet.
Losing more than 2 lbs a week will usually lead to loose skin. The more obese a person is, the easier it is to lose 2 lbs a week or more. However the closer you get to your goal, weight loss slows. Trying to lose 1 pound a week with 10 lbs to go will result in mostly muscle loss, and very little fat loss. So what is safe or recommended depends on how much you need to lose.
Empty calories like Toosie pops are not on my diet, so I have no idea.

to me, a healthy body weight means being at a good weight and being healthy too.

the reason i picked this is because keeping your heart rate at a certain rate for a certain length of time will result in a training effect, and although speed/pace will increase the heart rate, it is the increased heart rate that results in the improvement.
