I was just thinking the same thing. I was using MyFitnessPal.com for jsut that reason, but I like how complete of a tracker fitbit is in comparison. Would be a nice update to the app.

I use the MyFitnessPal app and linked it to my fitbit account. It has a bar scanner.

Have you been able to log foods that are not from a restaurant?

Yes. It has a barcode scanner for you to add packaged food.

that would be helpful, I found that I have problems trying to log plain ol regular food like chicken, and some other whole foods. and then theres the health foods they dont have the information on. I wish they would update it

Totally agree as I live in New Zealand and the food does not comply with what we have here to what they have in America. I have to stick in my own. Bar code would be great, for calories etc...

There was a barcode scanner on my fitbit app dashboard and I accidently deleted it. Does anyone know how to get it back? I'd like to access it with my phone instead of the computer.

I would try reloading the app.

It's the most useless packaged food barcode scanner out there. It literally scans 1% of barcodes.
It's a pity Fit Bit don't incorportate some sort of agreement with the likes of Lifesum.

There is a symbol to turn on the Smart Phone's flashlight in the upper left corner when you are scanning. This makes most barcodes scan for me.
