Jubilant July 2017 (Step) Goal Challenge

ANSWERED

How It Works:

The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for July 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.

Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day

Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format

1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.

2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Optional

3) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Oddly enough, the optional items keep growing, that's why I changed the title slightly.  In the end it's about setting goals and improving habits.  So the optional items can really be anything.  Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc.  Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you would be aiming for a number not necessarily out of 31.  Really, it's just completely open.

Injury Notice

If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Day Six

1. 10,000 steps/day. 6/31

2. Run 75 miles. 18.5/75

3. Body weight exercises:
a. Odd days: Plank. 3/16
b. Even days: Push up. 3/15

A couple of good push ups this morning before breakfast. Managed to maintain form throughout. A couple isn't many, but more than the none at all I've done recently.

A couple of nice strolls during the day the day saw my 10,000 steps completed without concern.

Not a running day today, but I felt the need for an outside workout, so I swam in the sea for 30 minutes. I only covered about a quarter of a mile, but much of it was against the current, so a really good session of CV and upper body work combined!

Ok, I appear to be in the same kinda beginning of the month slump that I was in last month. What has happened is my overeating and weigh gain which started 25 years ago was  a coping tool for certain problems I was having in other areas. As I appear to be nearing my UGW, it appears that these old issues are now surfacing again and causing me to overeat.  Well now I'm aware and now its time to tackle this stuff head on.

Day 7: Hot and sticky summer day. Also busy with my work and some personal appointments. So without even thinking about going for a walk or a run, I comfortably get through that steps and active minutes. My Plank went for 90 secs without any hassle with good form. I was thrilled. I want to continue with that 90 secs. Few core exercise and push ups wrapped for the day!.

1) 13k steps - 6/6
2) Run - 1/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 6/6
4) Push up - 6/6

@almost_where: You were almost there with your UGW. Just few more steps. You can do it.. Come on! Step it up!

What a great day!

It started well with a 45s plank before breakfast, then a stroll in to town to see my friend the Turkish barber.

Then a walk to the beach for a swim, then lunch at the beach. Another stroll, another swim and then walked home again.

This evening I cycled about 11 miles and now I'm preparing dinner.

What at a wonderful life!

After such an active day today, I don't expect a fast time at Parkrun tomorrow, but stranger things have happened!

Yesterday my Charge HR passed away sometime after 10 am while I was working on fencing. At noon I put my old Charge HR (the one that didn't like to sync) on the charger and switched to using it. Other that losing the 3 hours the replacement seems to be working at this time. Glad I had a "spare"

A little light on steps reported the last two days.  July 7 was equipment failure.  My tracker battery went empty during a long bike ride.  Probably would have gotten close my 20K average but for that.  July 8 was just spending a big chunk of the day at a party.  Had fun, though 🙂

Well, I made part of my goals on Friday and none yesterday. I got a good workout in Friday morning, and got in 8,000 of my 10,000 steps before my granddaughter asked me to go swimming with her that evening. So, naturally, I took off my Fitbit and headed to their back yard pool. I enjoyed the lounging and playing, but there wasn't much exercise happening. Lol. And Saturday I just took the day, worked around the house, and then devoured my new gardening book. So, no real activity and not nearly 10,000 steps. Back to the routine tomorrow.

Day 9 (includes days 7 & 😎

1. 10,000 steps per day Monday-Saturday: 5/26
2. Weekly gym schedule:
     A. 30 minutes on the ARC followed by 15 minutes weight training (3 days): 3/13
