How It Works:
The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for July 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.
Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.
Optional
3) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.
4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.
Oddly enough, the optional items keep growing, that's why I changed the title slightly. In the end it's about setting goals and improving habits. So the optional items can really be anything. Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc. Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you would be aiming for a number not necessarily out of 31. Really, it's just completely open.
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Hot again today..........100 again, high humidity. Would walk in the rain right now if it only would. Not a cloud in sight. A month ago it was in the mid 90's but with lower humidity made it much easier to get out and work all day. What will be will be.
In spite of the 99 yesterday I did hit steps of 11.9 k, 5.5 miles, but only 14 floors. Today on my way to 11 or 12 k steps

It's really hot here, too. I realized I hadn't updated things in a while. Between work picking up and keeping my grandbaby, I've been busy, but have met goals most days. 🙂

Day 25: Started with 14 c and eventually hit 32 c. Rain stopped mid-morning. I went for a short run earlier than usual. It was nice with cool breeze. Eventually within that 40 minutes of that run, temperature should have increased at least 7 to 9 degrees. it was hot when I finished my 5.3k run. That took care of my step goal and active minutes. Did some squats and core exercise late evening!
1) 10K steps - 20/25
2) Run - 7/9 (I am on track... fingers crossed!)
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 20/25
4) Push up - 20/25

Every once and a while I pay attention to one of the challenges I'm in. I was trying to finish the NY marathon challenge in two days last night and at around 7:30 pm or so a car going the other way honked as it passed. Looked over my shoulder and it was turning around. Looks my car, I thought. Turned out it was! Wife Jane was returning from a water aerobics class with dinner. She picked me up and I came up a bit short on my 2 day completion goal, but I did finish it off this morning.

Day 26: Cool day and Rain came down late in the evening. Also it was good day for my hill training. Did 7.5 k run in that slight drizzling weather. Had more energy even after I finished my run.

2) Run - 8/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 21/26

@Baltoscott: Good job on finishing the marathon challenge. I do these challenges once in a while. But I didn't attempt NY marathon. I always think, I have to do this in a day. Thanks for sharing that it can be done in multiple days.

@Bhuvana -- the NY marathon challenge is 57,000 steps. Although you can do it in multiple days, you have to make sure you don't have a big stepper in the challenge. Once someone in the group finishes, the rest only have 24 hours to complete the challenge before it is over. It would be good if fitbit gave everyone in the challenge a little more time to complete it.

Day 28, 29, 30: All together it was good weekend in respect to attaining the goals. Went for my slow long distance run yesterday before the heat picked up.
1) 10K steps - 25/30
2) Run - 9/9 (woooohooo..... after a long time, I am happy to finish this one strong !!!)
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 25/30
4) Push up - 25/30
@Baltoscott: 99% of the time, I do these challenges by myself. Sometimes, it gives more motivation to go for it. 50k + steps, I do not want to push myself too much and get injured. The only time, I did 45 k + in a day when I ran 1/2 marathon and 5 k in a race. That's why I was wondering. Thanks.

And that is a wrap for July. I still don't know where the month went, it went so fast.
Well the scale didn't move the way I would have like it too this month but I am viewing this month as a valuable learning experience Hopefully spreading out my calories more evenly during the day will curb my binges. Also cutting out energy drinks towards the end of this month and planning on continuing to do without them I think will help with my sleeping which will also help with the food binges.
Good luck to all you guys with your goals and congrats on making it to the end of the challenge. All the best for August!!!

Day 31: Finished this day with strong stepping. Overall not a good month. Missed 5 days of stepping goal. Mindset was kind of why am I doing this attitude. Came out of that almost 99%. Still that 1 % is hanging some where in my brain. :). But at least I got the habit of regular push ups and plank.
1) 10K steps - 26/31
2) Run - 9/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 26/31
4) Push up - 26/31
