Jubilant July 2017 (Step) Goal Challenge

ANSWERED

How It Works:

The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for July 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.

Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day

Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format

1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.

2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Optional

3) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Oddly enough, the optional items keep growing, that's why I changed the title slightly.  In the end it's about setting goals and improving habits.  So the optional items can really be anything.  Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc.  Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you would be aiming for a number not necessarily out of 31.  Really, it's just completely open.

Injury Notice

If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Another day, another heat advisory.  Heat index will get to 105 F according to my weather app.  Yikes!

Also, just checked my weightlifting log and realized I didn't report 3 of the days I did.  I guess I'm just in a fog when I make these posts on my train commute. 😴

19/31 10,000 steps +

19/31 Thirty+ daily minutes of activity

I'm pretty grateful for trendweight. My weight has just been a bit all over the place. I had a new low today, but, it's only .2 below my last low. I just keep reminding myself that even slow progress is progress. I've averaged 1.5 lbs of weight loss per week since April 1st, so not too shabby. I keep reminding myself that I had a crazy dramatic 8 lb loss in one week about a month ago, so it's totally okay if I only have lost a few tenths of a lbs since. Who knows? Maybe I'm on the edge of another huge loss and that's just the way my body works now. LOL

Realized only this morning that I haven't updated my progress at all. Met my goals all of those days except one. Went for long run yesterday for 14.5 k on trails. Good weather not too cool nor hot. Nice breeze through out. After a long time, I did 3 days of running in a week. 🙂

Days 20:

1) 13k  10K steps - 16/20
2) Run - 5/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 16/20
4) Push up - 16/20

Days 21:

1) 13k  10K steps - 17/21
2) Run - 5/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 17/21
4) Push up - 17/21

Days 22:

1) 13k  10K steps - 17/22
2) Run - 5/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 17/22
4) Push up - 17/22

Days 23:

1) 13k  10K steps - 18/23
2) Run - 6/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 18/23
4) Push up - 18/23

There is a rainfall warning and it's heavy downpour from yesterday night. So most of steps would be indoor for today!

Finally my streak of meeting my goals beaten by the heat!

My July goals:  Steps 10k a day, 35 floors, 5 miles, 10+ pu

July 17th: Steps 15.8, 7.2 miles, 112 floors

18th: Steps 11.2 k, 5 miles, 17 floors

19th: Steps 16.4 k, 7.4 miles, 36 floors

20th: Steps 6.7 k, 3 miles, 10 floors              99 degrees, 60% humidity9

21st: Steps 11.3 k, 5.1 miles, 28 floors

22nd: Steps 4.7 k, 2 miles, 11 floors            100 degrees, 65% humidity

23rd: Steps 7.1 k, 3.2 miles, 11 floors            99 degrees, 62% humidity

When it's this hot and humid I melt, get a lot of reading done. I did get my pu's done though.

Could be a long week, forecast 93 or higher all week.

No joy with that heat @benvegi.  Similar here the past week, but getting a break for the next week or more -- 80s instead of 90s.  Maybe the only benefit of my 4:40 am wake up for my commute from Baltimore to D.C. three days/week is that it is 10-15 degrees cooler on the morning bike ride to the train station --- and no beating sun!

@benvegi & @Baltoscott: Yes.. it's no fun when it is hot. Rain Rain.... but it's a nice break from last week of sweltering hot temperatures. I think most of the week it was above 30 C and couple of days, it reached upper 30s. It's rain all this week. Also it's cooler in the nights.

Days 24:

1) 10K steps - 19/24
2) Run - 6/9
3) Plank (60 secs +) - 19/24
4) Push up - 19/24
