Welcome one and all to our next challenge for better health and weight loss or maintenence.
We gather here to support each other, cheering and empathizing with the process of life style
change to improve our health and quality of life.
Set reasonable goals so you can feel success.
USW= heaviest weight when you began to lose
SW=starting weight
CW=current weight
GW=goal weight for Labor Day
UGW = Ultimate goal weight - long term healthy weight goal
Some people include their BMI = Body Mass Index, and some add their height as well.
You can stop by once a week and post your progress or every day to get and give ideas and support.
Most people track their food intake as well as steps to make sure you burn at least 500 to 750 more calories than you consume. Remember eat healthy food and portions in a way that you can maintain.
We can do this together. We have seen great progress over the last 7 challenges.
Welcome.

I'm still here. I went on vacation and walked a ton up and down mountains but then my sciatic nerve decided to act up when I got home so it slowed down my walking. I have stayed the same weight since before my vacation which is both disappointing and good. I wanted to be less BUT I did not gain while on vacation or when I was barely walking 😄 The other good thing is I feel much better today..my husband and I went on a 6 mile walk on our greenway in town..up and down two big hills..they are more like a valley..down one..then up..then the second more steep one and up. Then turn around at the end of the trail and walk upa nd down them again. I was able to do them just fine still and did not have issues with trying to catch my breath afterwards so that is big too 😄
Hope all is going well 😄

Bobbinyc, south beach makes some good granola bars, but I haven't seen them in the stores recently. So, now I eat Kashi chewy granola bars, and I really like them. There is a decent amount of protein and not a ton of sugar. I also like oatmeal raisin or apple granola bars. Not much to them, but only 90 calories. Pretzel sticks are ok too, you can eat a lot of them and you can take a long time to eat them!! I also eat raisins and nuts too. Don't forget a peanut butter sandwich. This is the stuff I eat when I need something quick and not heavy. I eat this stuff when I am golfing 18. Enjoy your vacation!!!

Hi everyone - adding a late status. I have totally gone off the rails the past couple of weeks and gained. I'm thinking it's water weight - but no execuses. I've had one too many cheat days.

No loss but I did spend the weekend in NYC, eating out. And walking a lot. My first time going there and not gaining weight.

I just finally got the scale to move (only 3 pounds) after so many months, that I just don't want to gain any back. I am trying to come up with strategies for a little holiday trip that will be loaded with temptations and not enough control for me.
Thanks @debb21 and @mommo77 for the snack suggestions. I am usually so good at that, but since losing this weight has been such a struggle this time, I got myself too worked up about the scale. Protein bars and baggies of nuts and raisins (which I have always used) will be travelling with me.
I also asked the innkeeper where I'll be staying about the breakfast they serve and she described tons of stuff made with cream, butter, fats, loads of baked goods... then she asked if I prefer something else. So...I somewhat timidly told her. She was so happy to accomodate, she said now all her guests will be eating very healthy that week. She then offered me space in her fridge so I can bring whatever I like. Wow. I always encourage others to speak up, but sometimes I forget to.
The hardest part left will be staying focused on my goals and thinking of all the temptations as just plain poison for me. I'll bring a picture of myself looking skinny (thank you Photoshop) as a reminder.

A number of people are close to goal and worried about not making it due to get -togethers over Labor Day Weekend. You have all been so strong, determined, conscious of your health, and you have created new habits. One weekend can't change that, no matter what the scale ends up saying. I think you have already been victorious.

It's been a good couple of weeks. School started, back to work and I'm still staying in control and losing in spite of the (considerable) stress of the new year. Looking forward to shopping for some cool weather clothes this year, sweaters and such. It doesn't get really cold here very often.

@dancefoxtrot I can't believe we are already to September! This year has flown by for sure! Hope you are doing wonderful!
@Bobbinyc I have never been to NYC and would love to go. Just for the experience and dare I say food! lol I have a friend that lives there and she absolutely loves going downtown.
Glad to see those of you keeping up with your goals and the ones who haven't made it there yet or are struggling...don't give up! This is such a great journey, the goods the bads, high and lows, it's an experience you will never forget. Looking back at your before photos and seeing that scale number difference is so worth the struggles, I promise!
We officially sold our house last Friday! We lived out of a Uhaul/my in laws house with everything we owned for about 2 days (that was fun (sarcasm)) but I do appreciate them letting us stay until we could get into the new house. We closed on the new house Monday and are dead center in the middle of renovations, we got the house for a good price so we had a little room to update the bathrooms, carpets, appliances...little things I wanted different and such. I have not been to the gym or worked out (aside from cleaning and busting my butt moving) in a few weeks but was surprised by the scale this morning! I guess I have been working harder than I thought! Happy Thursday everyone 🙂

working from home this week as I await the birth of our new Jersey calf. This will be the first time having a calf born at our place and let's just say I feel as nervous as a first time parent!! lol So with being home and not really being prepared with snacks/food (my stash of goodies is at work) - and a bit of stress eating - I gained again. I am prepared today though - started my work day late so I could make a run into the store to grab a few things. Will be busy the next few days tending to the newborn and getting our Jersey girls ready for the county fair ---it starts the day after Labor day!

@awood08 So nice to see you again! Congrats on the house! That is terrific. I'm glad that ordeal is over. How exciting that you are doing some renovations. I love doing that; wish I could do more on my old place. You definitely have to go to NYC sometime, just for the experience. And of course the food. It has changed a lot in the past few years, but remains exciting.
And look what you have accomplished with your health! You left the 160s! That is amazing. When you have time, you should share about all the workouts you have done. I remember thinking "This is WonderWoman - no stopping her". You absolutely raised the bar.
I hope you keep posting here. Your voice has been missed.

@Chlz1997 That's quite a bit of excitement. Good luck with the calf. I'd love to see a picture of the baby. Life sure does interfere with our goals some times. Just do the best you can and you'll get back on track when things settle a bit.

I finally was able to get to this thread! When I try to get here by clicking Community from my Dashboard I get an error message that there are too many redirects. Tonight I tried going to Help instead since my Fitbit has died (AGAIN. This is the 4th one in about 1 1/2 years). I was able to get here from the Help site. So here's my last Sunday's weigh in. My weight has went back up this week from my 187 low :-(. But I'm not giving up, altho I am more determined to get my glucose levels tested because I'm working way too hard to be losing this slow. If it's not diabetes then I'll know it's my medication. At least I'll know.

@scottie0714 Once again, I'm at about the same weight as you. My 187.X lasted for a good week or more, then jumped up to 190 again. I did do mostly weight workouts last week vs. cardio types, so I'm hoping it's muscle weight. Either way, tho, I still have FAT to get rid of. Now I seem to be varying a few ounces each day, some down some up.
We are supposed to finally have some beautiful weather where I live, so I'm hoping to get in several walks. I'm hoping that will help. I must admit I'm getting a little impatient. I know when the cooler weather comes I have more craving for carbs/comfort food and I like to hibernate in winter. So I'm trying to lose as much as I can before that weather gets here.
