Welcome one and all to our next challenge for better health and weight loss or maintenence.
We gather here to support each other, cheering and empathizing with the process of life style
change to improve our health and quality of life.
Set reasonable goals so you can feel success.
USW= heaviest weight when you began to lose
SW=starting weight
CW=current weight
GW=goal weight for Labor Day
UGW = Ultimate goal weight - long term healthy weight goal
Some people include their BMI = Body Mass Index, and some add their height as well.
You can stop by once a week and post your progress or every day to get and give ideas and support.
Most people track their food intake as well as steps to make sure you burn at least 500 to 750 more calories than you consume. Remember eat healthy food and portions in a way that you can maintain.
We can do this together. We have seen great progress over the last 7 challenges.
Welcome.

Hi to all and special booyahs to USA people! Canada Day was Friday, and the weekend was great...basically ate everything I could get my hands on.

I've never done one of these challenges before. I've had two fitbits now and the first time I just sort of put it on the charger and forgot about it.
But I'm in! I'll set an alarm to check back on here and hopefully these work out.
:]
Good luck to all!

Best wishes for a good recovery. See you posting soon. Eat light since you can burn much at first.

USW - 25/1/2016 - 190 lbs
CSW - 4/7/2016 - 158 lbs
CGW - 142 lbs
UGW - 142 lbs
Right, finally took the plunge and got on the Aria, with almost as much trepidation as the inguinal hernia operation.
The operation went remarkably well, as I actually wanted the operation, as it is the start of the new future. I am totally pleased with my decision to get in the best shape possible pre-op, as I felt brilliant, with all of the readings, blood pressure, temperature, HR etc. impressing the nurses.
A little sore now, but this is to be totally expected, with massive optimism for the next few weeks and months.
I had got down to 147 lbs, but this was with a combination of 5:2 fasting etc. so really was at my bottom weight, whereas my weight on the scale today is the worst, as I had to drink a lot of water to demonstrate that I could pass some of it prior to going home. I must have retained quite a bit, as I have seen nowhere near the 2L that I drank in the hospital.
I have decided that I am going back to basics, with my Fitbit Surge being the primary source of ,and motivation, as the gym will be out of bounds for a week or so.
My consultants opinion is that I can start running in 4-6 weeks, and I am due to see him in 4 weeks, so I will wait until then, with walking only in the interim, and maybe a swim in a couple of weeks.
I am not worried about the recent weight gain, as I really lot the plot in the week prior to today, with loads of ice cream, a few beers, and all of the things that I had cut out for the last few months, so I now have a focus again.
This is going to be a memorable couple of months, due to the fact that at the start of this year, my target was to be able to run 5k without embarrassment, this was done sub 26 mins, 2 weeks ago, so mission accomplished there.
My aim is to beat that next time out, and plan to compete in a local cycle time trial next year, with the 300 miles in 24 hours challenge cycling from Newcastle to London, the focus for 2017
Realised that nothing is too far or too late to be achieved, just a combination of determination, effort and some "mind over mouthfuls".
Need to mention that I had a slight problem with my 5 month old Fitbit Surge, as there was a slight blister developed on the side of the watch strap. After a brief online discussion with Fitbit Customer Services, a new device arrived by courier yesterday.
I note that Fitbit do come under a degree of criticism over reliability etc. but credit where it is due and my experience has been totally commendable.
Thank you Fitbit !

USW 6/19/16) = 204 lbs
SW (6/27/16) = 200
CW (7/4/16) = 198
GW (9/5/16) = 188

My goals are to get more steps in, get more sleep, and keep with the exercise even if the weight doesn't come off. I'm doing 21 Day Fix for my daily exercise. I'm in week 2 of the first round. (Last year, in four rounds I lost 8 pounds while also training for a multi-day mountain hike. I gained that back plus 25 more after the hike.)
