Jumpin' June 2017 (Step) Goal Challenge

ANSWERED

How It Works:

The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for June 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 30 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.

Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day

Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format

1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.

2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 30.

Optional

3) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 30.

Oddly enough, the optional items keep growing, that's why I changed the title slightly.  In the end it's about setting goals and improving habits.  So the optional items can really be anything.  Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc.  Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you would be aiming for a number not necessarily out of 30.  Really, it's just completely open.

Injury Notice

If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

12.4 miles in 2:02 on a very hilly route is quite a happy run!

@Dave001: So you are ready for 1/2 Marathon? Another .6 mile you are there! Good for you! 🙂

Thanks @Bhuvana!

0.7 miles, HM is 13.1!

My race isn't until November, so plenty of time to train yet!

The race I've entered is almost completely flat, so I'm hoping to run sub-two.

I might even enter another before November, just to see how I perform in a crowd at that distance.

Day 29: Heavy rain continues for x number of days! I lost the count. Yesterday I couldn't even step out for my walk during lunch time. So all my active minutes were around the house. Completed my goal steps without any hassle.

1) 13 k step goal - 27 out of 29/30
2) Run - 10 days - 5/10
3) Active minutes: 30 + - 27 out of 29/30
4) Plank: - 25 out of 29/30
5) Push up : 25 out of 29/30

@almost_where: Thanks for starting the July challenge!

Have to think about goals for July which can be easy and attainable :). Happy Friday everyone!

Good Luck @Dave001! Please give enough recovery time in between the races. I heard experts suggest resting one day for every mile you run would be the best.

Day Thirty

1. 10,000 steps/day. I will be consistent in June!
30/30

2. Running. I will run 70 miles during the month.
78.6/70

Summary

What a great month!

100% consistency with 10,000 daily steps.

112% of 70 miles run.

Total steps was 465,496 which gives an average of just over 15,500.

Laziest day was just 10,204.

Busiest day was 26,118.

I hit >20,000 steps five times.

My 10,000 step goal streak is now at 53 days.

I had some great runs this month.

I managed to get to Parkrun (5km/3.1m) twice. My best time was 26:58.

I entered a 10km (6.2m) road race and finished in 54:32.

My longest run was 12.41m in 2:02:35.

Overall self grade for the month A-.

If I want an A next month I'll need to maintain consistency and get a new PB for 5km (current PB 26:36).

For an A+, I need to get <25:00 for 5km! And be consistent.

I hope everyone else has enjoyed the month as much as I have and is as happy with their performance as I am!

Let's all smash July now!

Day 30: completed set of goal challenge comfortably.

1) 13 k step goal - 28/30
2) Run - 10 days - 5/10
3) Active minutes: 30 + - 28/30
4) Plank: - 26/30
5) Push up : 26/30

Consistency is key. But I was not in this month. Even though I did finish my goal steps 28 days, it is kind of low on steps when compare with previous few months. The missing activity was running. Used to run at least 30 km /week which I considerably reduced this month. Overall not a bad month, but still want to be more on the target. Let's hope July will be a good one in all aspects.
