Good morning everyone!

You've all been busy and there are some amazing workout schedules posted! Go girls / ladies!!!

I've been keeping to my steps with fitbit and also had a few days with quite some nausea so eating was more a chore than anything else. But I am back on a healthy track now! yay.

Since the start of our challenge I have lost 4.8 lbs, but as I said - I wasnt feeling great. Now the weightloss will probably slow down a bit to 1-2 lbs per week. Getting under 230 lbs by September 3rd and getting to a size 16 actually sounds possible. I am very excited!

Labour Day Challenge
USW Jan 1 - 283.4 lbs (size 22/24)

CSW July 4  - 241.6 (size 18)

CW July 15 - 236.8 (-4.8)
GW - 228.0

+++++++
Halloween GW 218
Christmas GW 210
Valentine's day GW 200
Easter GW 190
Ultimate GW 180 by Victoria Day 2016 (May 23)

Good to know about the surgery.  I have been walking quite a bit lately, and it's not worsening so I think I am on the right track.  As I said before, it's just frustrating.  You are inspirational to me, and I am loving the Scottish Highlands.  I am at Loch Lomond, and it is quite lovely.  My husband and I walked several hundred miles last fall on the Camino in Spain, and enjoyed the relaxed style of travel.  It was fun and low-budget.  I wonder if the Scottish Highlands Way has similar kinds of hostels.

To join the pacific crest trail virtual hike, go into walking4fun, friends group, search groups and 6/3 virtual walk, which was #9. You can also join the discussion on here under weight loss, "virtual hike starts 6/3". Dont worry, we are all going at different paces.

Hi. I was just wondering how you were doing.  I'm on the Scotland Highland walk for the last few days. That is cool that you are hiking too.

Fun to see pics of places from so far away.

Hope that you are doing well.

I slide back a little and am in PT for tendonitis so not getting in as many steps right now. Still dancing and walking though.

Take care,

Barbara G

Hi Bobbi

Glad that your foot is better. Darn it I'm in Scotland vitually on the same trail with Sandpiper. Didn't know that you were on the PCT. Since it is hard to change and I want to see Scotland anyway I'll touch base on Fitbit.

Happy hiking to you and Joy and others,

Barbara G

Thanks so much for the info on Walking 4 Fun. I am now on my second leg of

Barbara,
Sorry to hear about your tendonitis. I am slowly increasing walking after over one year of not being able to walk at all. I had badly damaged both achilles and plantar fascia tendons. I actually did both feet, but one healed within a few weeks. The other was awful. Couldnt even put my foot down. That is when i gained over 30 pounds (only part was from being completely sedentary. After months of it i started eating junk food...not a good plan). Be very careful with yours- tendons are very delicate and easily torn if stressed. I had to wear clogs for over a year - and was happy to be a be to get around in them. PT helped a lot, though a few parts of it were not so great. I was also told that tendons never fully heal, but doing a few things to keep it strong, stretched, and protected can prevent recurring problems. Unfortunately, since mine took so long, i became an expert of sorts in this.
Hope yours heals very quickly.

Barbara- just wanted to add- i know it is dicouraging for you to not be able to move the way you are used to for right now. You worked so hard to lose weight and be strong. It probably helped minimize your injury, and is paying off now. So glad you are able to continue being active.

GinaBee- was just thinking about your post about treats. Love the "i'm not a dog"! We all go through this thinking. It's sad that it is so tough to just think of being healthy, that our efforts require rewards. But, that said, there are so many wonderful ways to reward yourself. I'm doing one piece of clothing for every 10 pounds, for me, if I reward too often, i get into very short term thinking and being more impulsive. This is long term, and i am trying to minimize all the impulses. I also rewarded myself with a gym membership after I began exercising regularly, and i reward myself with a training session when i need an extra push. (I'm in bad shape so working out is still hard). When i get to my healthy weight, strength, etc, I will reard myself with a trip someplace pretty to do some hiking.
When someone I am close to offers me something unhealthy, I say No thanks very firmly so they get it. Pushing something unhealthy on someone who is trying to give up sweets is not acceptable to me. I would never do that to a diabetic! Alcoholics don't celebrate sobriety with a drink. Junk food/sugar is addictive and we are working hard here. no one should try to derail us. Most people just need to have that explained.

going away this weekend. To HERSHEY! Will need discipline to search for healthy foods, (and a *little* chocolate).

Is anyone out there on the virtual Camino Frances with me? Let me know. I hope to walk *part* of the real camino some day, so this is loads of fun.

I appreciate the ideas and inspirations. Will share a fun doodad. I got a Spiralizer which turns veggies into noodles, long and stringy. It's awesome fun, and makes great beet shreds for salads or veggie wraps. Lots of fun for a small price.

Happy trails!

wow I am impressed! you did the Camino? I can't even imagine being able to walk those distances! Tell me please: were there days when you just wanted to stop and sleep whereever you were or was every part of the trail "doable" as in, you made it to the next hostel/village?

Hey ! I actually signed up for the Camino in France/Spain but havent updated my walk4fun log for a while. I may do that right now and possibly we meet on the way!

I'll be on vacation next week, but i am planning to get my 10k steps in by walking the dog and visiting a few little towns and villages in Prince Edward County (Ontario). Crossing fingers.

Cheers

B.

EDIT: I am just finishing Stage 9 of the Camino Trail. Where are you at??

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share this link with you, since it has been reallly motivating to me to find a goal to work towards and also to see that there are many other people out there who are working towards a healthier weight:

www.whatwillilooklike.com

You can see what other people of your height and build look like at a specific weight. Some even have a few pictures posted to share their progress over time.
