It's been a bad couple weeks for me, I havent lost much at all during the last 3 weeks. I was using a cheap 10 analog scale and it kept giving me different numbers each time by 5-10 pounds. Decided to go ahead and get me a nicer one and i ended up weighting 7 pounds more than i tought. from 263 to 269-270..

I gained a pound over the weekend 😞

I allow myself one cheat MEAL (not day) a MONTH. It fell on Saturday....I didn't go completely overboard eating but I did drink alot of alcohol. I am not a drinker and have maybe drank 3 times in the past 7 years. It was a bachelorette party for my friend so I of course joined in on the fun. Worst mistake.....ugh my body feels like it took a good beating. No more crazy weekends again!

I have no idea how i'm going to meet my Labor Day goal now....13 pounds in 3 weeks is looking very intimidating.

Hi everybody!!! I can see I am not the only one being frustrated about how things are going. Or not going.
After switching up medications 2 weeks ago I haven't lost a single ounce. Very frustrating.
So it's back to 10lbs lost and I just hope things are taking off again once my body has adjusted to the med change.
Sigh.

Unfortunately I havent pushed as hard as I could have throughout this challenge and its looking like i wont hit that goal weight.  But, I will definitely see if I can manage a late run and get as close to my goal as possible.  My wife just finally jumped on board and decided to get fit with me, so that has been a huge help in my quest.

Awood- sounds like you learned a lot this weekend, and had some fun. I found that since I pretty much stopped drinking, eating sugar, eating red meat- when I do have them my body rebels! Now you can just get back on track, no real damage done. I'm amazed you can do one cheat meal monthly, though I'm not sure what that means for you. Is this some special diet? You are very determined and you are doing this. One pound can't change that.

Mermaid, glad you are around. I was worried about you. Your body is going through a lot now and needs time to adjust. What if you just keep focusing on eating vey well and being active? The weight will come off when your cells and organs figure what is happening. Taking good care of yourself is the best way to make the most progress.

Yes, definitely learned my lesson...this is why I don't drink and haven't drank but a handful of times since I was in high school lol

I know myself and if I have on cheat day a week on, say, Sunday then i'm going to try and sneak a day in early the following week. Then another day early until i'm doing 2-3 cheat days a week. So I reward myself each month on the day I started this weight loss journey (16th). Keeps me more accountable to my own self. I started the State of Slim food guidelines which is basically low carb, no wheats, breads, etc. bread is my enemy. I love it, but it hates my body. Anything I eat I make sure is low carb.

Sounds like you remember why you don't over drink 'cause hangovers stink. Dehydrated cells don't feel good. Back on track and make a new reasonable goal for the 3 weeks to go. 3-5 lbs is doable right?

All the best and stay hydrated in this heat.

ooops Arley,

Well you are the same weight in spite of the scale's error in spite of the disappointment in the number. Keep eating healthy and light and get in your steps. Focus on the present, and you will burn the extra fat away, bit by bit.

Reset your goal for 3 weeks and move forward with us. Can you lose 3 lbs in 3 weeks?

Best,

Hi Mermaid

You might want to read the side effects of new meds. as they may have weight gain in the list.  Hope that you are still getting in your steps and still eating healthy food and portions.

Glad to hear from you,

3 weeks exactly so stay strong and focus. Any loss is better than none or a gain. Bodies lose at different rates so if you a losing something you are winning.

Awood- i know what you mean about cheating on your own rules. When i was first cutting back on sugar, i would allow myself one sweet weekly. Really?? What was i thinking? That made as much sense for me as saying I'll just do heroin once a week. Of course sometimes the new week started the next day. When we arent fully committed to something yet, it seems we negotiate with ourselves in a really undermining way. But you caught it! It took me awhile to fully commit to stopping all emotional eating, changing all of the habits and sabotaging thinking and just take good care of my health. But once i started, everything changed. We really can develop a whole new way of relating to food and to our bodies that is so freeing. Now my "setbacks" are partly just life circumstances (such as travelling and not having much access to healthy food), and I am back on track quickly. We really can do this!
I'm curious about the diet you are following and how it works for you. I think every diet these days is low carb. Is it different than the basic protein, non-starchy veggies, and a little whole grain?

barbara- You've got this! Though I don't see how you can fit in any more activity- you seem like one very active woman! That said, my pulled back muscle is healing well and I am moving more again. I also have 3 to lose in the next 3 weeks. You are my inspiration!

5th Update

I think quite a few of us were up this week, myself included, no! I don't want to join the gainers club! Waaahhh!  Oh well, sometimes it happens. Back on track!  I didn't want to see the 160s ever again!

I should probably adjust my goal weight.....at least for this challenge

Hi mcfloozy - Thanks for the encouragement. I am back to work in full swing. I am a faculty member, but in an administrative role. I have a lot of sitting time. It has been good to walk at night. Progress is slow, but it is progress. Good luck with the plank! Baby steps.

@awood08  I learned that lesson the hard way also.  I drank alot the day before weight in and I was even after a fanastic week otherwise.  But the following week it showed up with a loss of almost 7 lbs. 🙂

Bobbyinyc:

I use My Fitness Pal with Fitbit adjustments because MFP allows for more personalized nutrition setup.

I was eating no more than 150 carbs, 33g of fat, and 150g of protein per day. 40% of my diet is carb, 40% protein, 20% fat. But I try to only eat good carbs, ones with a lot of fiber and protein. I love my low carb high fiber Ole wraps and Arnold Sandwich Rounds Multigrain. I just started the State of Slim (Colorado Diet) plan so that's a little bit of a change. I like it so far but in reality I have to have carbs in my life.
