oh and yes Dancefoxtrot, I LOVE to dance, even if I look like a spaz, I will def. be dancing the nights away. I have little intention of watching my intake to closely on this special occassion but I DO plan on filling up on fresh fruits and veg so as to not overdo the goodies. I also plan to walk every morning with my Mom as she and I are early risers while Our hubbies sleep in! I will def be wearing my fitbit for both walking AND dancing!

Hi all,
Missed my goal by a pound, dipped near it and touched it for a moment.
Moving in to the Halloween challenge, with a conservative goal. (I thought this one was conservative.)
Well, step by step. Thanks all for encouragement and support and inspiration.
Aloha!

Awesome McFloozy,
Only one lb to goal is absolutely great. Are you making any changes in diet or stress reduction or exercise for this next challenge?
I'm listening to Eckhart Tolle on u-tube to reduce stress and also using headspace meditation app-10 minute meditation.
I missed my goal by 2.7 lbs and that is just so. They are my last 2.7 lbs for my UGW and my belly is holding on tightly to some padding. I also had more carbs and dessert than normal at a party 2 nights ago so I would have been about 1/2 lb lighter. And there was no dancing at the party to burn it off either. Yuck.
So Halloween Challenge here we come.
Best,
Barbara G

Aurom,
Yeah, a size smaller and also 7 lbs lighter. Have a great time cruising after the 11th. I still buy XL tops as they are looser so hide the tummy bump better especially after shrinkage.
Walking and dancing, veggies and fruits, and cruising with your hubby and family sounds wonderful.
Enjoy,
Barbara G

Thanks Barbara,
It's easy to get on the "beat yourself up train", which is generally pretty crowded. But, I have to focus on how much I have accomplished, how much positive improvement I have introduced into my life, and jump on the "acknowledge your progress, and don't quit" train (which generally has a lot of empty seats).
We're in a WIN culture, focused on SUCCESS, and we don't like to talk about 'near-success' or, worse yet (drum roll) mistakes/failure. I think it takes a lot of practice to learn to miss the mark, stumble and get up, and learn from mistakes. I am practicing.
ALSO, I've added meditation into my life portfolio, and I find it really hellps on my fitness process. With meditation, I practice (constantly) losing focus, getting off track, and GENTLY getting on track again. I think that's the attitude I need to practice, and learn, and implement, and stumple with, to be prosperous in establishing healthy habits that are counter to the habits that corporations spend billions of dollars trying to manipulate me. (i.e. sugar, dairy, meat, sugar, sugar and fat, and all the sugar/fat combinations of pointless calories that we call food)
Yeah. We are fighting the big guys here. We are activists. For our own well-being, and that of our communities.
Carry on!

wannabme,
Woo Hoo you lost a lot of weight and I bet you are happier when you look in the mirror or just move around. 19 lbs burned off, and you are healthier for it.
See you in the Halloween Challenge.

McFloozy
What a right on stirring post! I agree with you 100% about the large corporate profit driving junk food that we are flooded with daily on TV, etc.. Following that diet is creating obesity and illness. We are activists for good health and we can lead by example.
I totally love your "and jump on the "acknowledge your progress, and don't quit" train (which generally has a lot of empty seats). I think we are learning to love our imperfect selves as we stumble and get again and learn from our errors. I'm on that train with you. I missed by 2.7 lbs to meet my ultimate goal weight.
I like the concept that we are not the voices in our heads we are the listener, the quiet space, who notices the chattering mind made thoughts, critical or comparing, and doesn't buy into this nonsense. It is all a story, a drama, that we have learned in our culture. The true us is wise and peaceful and is helping us get healthier day be day.
Our group is so full of inspiration that I'm amazed. Thank you Mc.
See you in the Halloween Challenge.

Hi Bobbinyc,
About the ballroom dancing, I love that you ask. Although their are 2 judges it is not a competition I found out last week. It is a "Merit Ball" where we do our dances like in competition but we are not competing against each other just getting marks and comments from the judges for ourselves. It is at the local studio in Santa Rosa this time so less pressure. I'm dancing Foxtrot, Waltz, Viennese Waltz and Bolero. I think that if I can stay calm it will go well since I can dance fine in rehearsal usually.
I pick up my ball gown on Wed. and paste on Rhinestones for many many hours myself. This saves hours of paying someone else to do it.
Like your protein based smoothie idea and i do that when I'm at home, which is most of the time.
Hope that you are enjoying your weekend. See you in the Halloween Challenge. I'm 2.7 from LD goal sooo it is now my Halloween Goal. Hopefully I will dance off another lb by Sept. 18th dance performance.
Best,

Hi Mermaid. This was a very interesting site! It made me want to adjust my goal down 5 lbs. I've been doing it in increments, meaning when I reach my goal I've been adjusting it downwards if I think I'd like to lose more. This site has been very helpful!

Hi there,
This is from 2015 but come to the July 4th to Labor Day challenge group. It is very supportive and positive group and we post our goals for health, diet, exercise and for weight loss if needed. 1/2 lb a week is a reasonable goal for most people if you walk 10,000 steps and reduce sugars and empty carbs.
Best,
Barb G
