Labour Day Challenge?

It is only 15 weeks until Labour Day. I have 20.5 lbs to go to reach my goal weight (lost 76 so far) but recently decided to focus more on my % body fat -- I am about 1.5-2% away from the normal range. Anyone up for a challenge? 1-2 pounds/week from now to September 1 OR decreases in your body fat (your choice). I am going to try to lose 0.5% body fat each month (although I have no idea how realistic that is.....)

I'm game for the challenge.  I have lost about 130 pounds, and have been stuck for a couple months at least.  I would like to lose about 50 more pounds, so any extra push I can take I will.  Let's hope we both reach our goals... Mine is to break my plateau!  Let's do this 🙂

Hi Elansc!  I will join.  My 1 year anniversary for Fitbit is September 13th.  I have a goal to weigh 140 by then.  I have lost about 42 pounds since I got the fitbit.  I need to lose 18.7 more according to my Aria scale.  That is about 1.25 pounds a week till Labor Day.  One would think that would not be too hard but lately I have been gaining and losing the same 2-3 pounds.  Maybe this will help me to get back on track!

I'm in...I have 25 more to go and want to reach it by mid to late August.

I have a reunuion in Cancun and would love to be able to go to the beach and wear a swimsuit!

Thanks for the realistic goal!

I am doing good this week so far.  I had actually lost and then gained back 3 pounds this month but since Monday all three are back off again!  Now if I can just keep moving forward and not gain again!

Here is a tip if you haven't done it already.  I like to use the tile on my dashboard called "weight" when I am starting a new challenge.  You can set your goal for this challenge with the weight you want to be by Labor Day and pick a calorie plan that should get you there.  The tile will show your starting weight and then track your loss throughout the challenge.  It has a graphic of a half circle that as you lose it moves around the curve turning green and showing the percentage of the goal you have met and also how much you still have left to be at your goal weight.  It is rewarding to make it all the way around and turn it all green!  It keeps me motivated to look at how much is left.  Since I set it up on the day I joined this challenge, it is already reflecting the three pound loss and that is motivating me to keep pushing.  It says I have already met 15% of the goal and I have 15.8 pounds left to be at my goal of 140.  BTW, I am certain that I will not keep having 3 pound losses every week.  I am actually only back to my weight of a few weeks ago so it is not that spectacular.  It will be far more important to keep it going in the following weeks and if I am lucky, lose 1 to 1.5 pounds a week!  But if it goes like it has been for the past few months, I might be quite a bit slower.  I am trying to mix up my exercise to see if that helps.  Yesterday, I rode the stationary bike and jumped on rebounder in addition to my usual walk.  Hope everyone else is having a good week this first week of the challenge!

Thank you Shelley! I have thirty pounds to go.... I hate gyms and I find it much easier to be more active when the weather is nice and I can be outdoors.

I spent the best of my life in a gym as a persoanl trainer. I was in my greatest shape and never felt better. After 20+ yrs I felt the burn out and stepped away. 10 yrs later I regret each day I missed. After seeing myself 50 lbs over weight and embarrassed by my weight I decided to become my own private trainer with the help of Fitbit.

Since Feb 2014 I have lost a total of 27.6 lbs. I walk no less that 7 miles a day and with my nutritional background I have changed my eating habits and food choices.
I'm now 25 lbs away from my goal weight and feeling a possible plateau. I'm seriously concidering joining a gym to get me through the next 25. It's not just a number on the scale I'm beginning to see but more the firmness and definition I am looking for.

Welcome everyone! Here is my weekly check in-- no weight loss this week but after 2 weeks of losing 2 lbs/week I am not surprised at all -- that is just the way my weight loss has gone over the past 76 pounds -- lose a bit, plateau for a bit.... I am really focusing on toning up and building a bit of muscle so I am trying to up my steps - over 10,000 on 3 days and close 2 days. -- I will see if I can top that next week. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here for a long walk 🙂

I'm totally down to join this challenge. I have 30 lbs to lose so I don't know if I'll lose it all by then but I'll try. I'm aiming for 10K steps per day and changing my eating habits. It's tough. My calories have been up lately - I'm a night eater...

My weekly weigh in down two pounds in 8 days twenty eight pounds to go. It'll slow down soon no doubt but it's nice to see the scale moving in the right direction. More power to everyone

I'm having a hard time with eating at night. I eat well all day and then, boom, night time comes, and I'm in the cupboards eating crackers and cookies. I swear I need to lock them up. I also think it's a side effect of the meds I'm on as I never used to do that.

I weigh in on Friday's so we'll see if there's a loss there. Heading into the gym at 1:00 pm today so I hope I get my 10K in! Need to get some good food habits too!

Good luck to everyone!

Hi Samtaracollier, I find that if I am tired or thirsty my body thinks that it needs or wants food especially at night. I hope you see the results you want to see on Friday.

The solution to munching cookies and crackers is to simply not buy the stuff.

I know that some people have young children at home and feel they need to stock the sweets for them but do children really need the sugar? Buy fresh fruit. Tis the season to take advantage of all the natural sweetness.

I've turned my food into a way of life. I eat to live not live to eat.

My weight in for the week was a 1 pound loss.  I was hoping for more, but I will take it for now... I'm gonna try to kick it up a notch and see if I can get a bigger bump!

I also think that I am hungry when in fact I am thirsty -- now i force myself to drink a big glass of water before i decide if i need the night time snack and it works 80% of the time -- that and getting to bed before 10 pm -- the munchies really start around 10:30 (for me anyway)
