I have really been struggling with my weight since I hit menopause. My whole life I have been in reasonably good shape, so I am hoping it won't be an impossible task to regain some control and feel good about the skin I am in again. I have about 50 lbs to lose and that extra weight makes it a little more difficult to exercise. I tend to overdue and get frustrated, so.... This time my daily goal is to move enough (I have a sedentary job) to have a negative calorie balance at the end of day while eating a balanced diet of around 1000-1200 calories. Today so far I have walked 2.8 miles (I want to increase it to 3 miles) and have made good food choices from all the food groups. There is always room for improvement, so I'll be working on that as well. I hope you will join me, encourage me, and hold me accountable. This is my last, first day.

Hey there! I am going to be 55 in September, have a wedding for my son in October and am constantly working at getting healthier and moving more. I have 30lbs to lose and a sedentary job. I am starting today with intentional movement and logging my food. I know that we can both do this! I would love the accountability, if you are interested in sharing struggles!

Awesome for life choices!! Two suggestions: Start a journal - just a notebook where you can write your thoughts and feelings down, as well as tracking your progress. Use it to write your thoughts down when you "need" a high calorie snack, and how you see your life changing as you lose the weight and reach that goal. Track your food using a food scale, not eyeballing portions. It is pretty shocking to discover that what you thought was a single portion of something is actually 2!
1200 calories is a good number to shoot for. Pay attention to how you feel, and consider adding a multivitamin to make sure you are getting all the nutrition your body needs, especially the B vitamins and iron. Having a lean protein for breakfast is great to keep from feeling hangry before lunch.
