Liquid Diet/Fasters - Anyone else doing it this way?

Hi there!

I've been part of a liquid fasting program since August 2014 (Doctor supervised, therapy group too) and have lost 86.4lbs (as of Tuesday). I have 18.2 lbs left to go before I start to transition to solid food again. Is there anyone else going this route?

I'd love to share stories, hear about your transition and hear what you're doing with FitBit to make this work for you.

Cheers!

Jill

Liquid Fasting.

My interpretation is that you are drinking juiced products and energey food when liquidfied.

I acquired a Nuti Bullet just after Christmas 2014 and use it often for my breakfast drink. Oranges Bananas, Pineapple peices, Natural Almonds and Cashews. But choose to eat healthy cereal after that. + a cup of tea.

Would that be part of the diet. Please explain who would generate that type of diet.

I gave my bullet up. It's a gimmick to me. Too much effort. And not packing enough In your body. A cup of kale, spinach. Not a lot of nutrients. You'd have to grab more if you're a burner. Many burn as much as I do at -2500 deficit.

A pound of fruit salad at work each meal plus my Jenny foods is all I eat for a pound a day lost. I dropped 4 this week in the 5 days.

Hi Jill,  I just joined Fitbit a few weeks ago to try and more motivation in.  I've lost 95 lbs with weight watchers but the last 2 years I've been "playing" with 20 lbs, up and down.   I still need to lose about 100 more and just checked into a program that sounds similar to what you described.   Mine is doctor supervised, classes every week and contacts mid week.  I chose the shakes and some of their food to start.   I will begin the program on Feb. 27th.   It sounds like you are doing really well with it.  Congratulations!   Are  you finding it easy?  If you have a wedding or some big occasion do you eat something there or just stay with the shakes?   I wish you continued success and hope to hear from you when you get a chance.   Thanks,  Kate

Hi Kate,

Sounds like you're on the Kaiser version of my program. Mine doesn't have any solid food. They call it a "food vacation". 😕

I have to admit the first three weeks were some of the hardest. I was used to 3000+ calories and little to no movement prior to starting. After the first week, it got easier but still I struggled with the mental game. After the 3 weeks it became routine. I wasn't hungry at all after the first week. In the 3rd week I had a few days where I had to make certain I drank all my shakes (if I wasn't setting alarms, I'd forget).

I hit another rough patch for about a week around 3 months. Most of it was a mental rough patch but I got through that too. Journaling and talking with friends helped quite a bit.

I never cheated on the program although most of my dreams involve eating 😉

I've gone to parties, made it through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years drinking nothing but my shakes. I figured I spent 30+ years packing on the pounds, I could spend 6 months dedicated to letting them go. There were others in my program who did step off for weddings/parties/holidays and had a rough time coming back on (although they all did).

I'm doing this for a few reasons.

1. My doctor gave me the "you're going to die sooner than you want if you continue this path" speech. For some reason it scared me enough to look into a program.

2. I missed being able to sleep without my boobs choking me to near death.

3. I couldn't keep up with my daughter and she started making statements like "Mom, you're always cranky" or "You sleep a lot". Lack of sleep at night was meaning all-day napping.

4. I longed for the day I'd look in the mirror and like the woman staring back.

To be honest, I think it was finally the selfish reason that won. I want to feel healthy and beautiful again.

Kate - Care to be friends on FitBit? We could challenge each other!

Cheers,

Jill

Hi Jill,

Sorry it took so long to respond - I couldn't find the post on fitbit.  I received the e-mail but it wouldn't set up to respond back.  (we just got a new system and I probably need to set a seperate e-mail account)   So many of the reasons you listed for losing the weight could easily be my reasons also.  The boobs is a deffinate.   They need to be out of the way.  I would like to keep up with my grandson.   He's 3 and always on the move.   I need his energy.  As for looking in the mirror...I think I have a ways to go before I like what I see.   But that is a goal and will hopefully be attained.  I see the doctor with the program tomorrow and as long as all the bloodwork and test look OK I should be able to start the program Thursday morning.  If I can make it thru the first coupld weeks (like you said) I should be good.   We'll see.    This program is the HMR diet.  It could be similar to the Kaiser one you mentioned.  Yes, I would like to be friends on fitbit.  I have't really made myself familiar with everything here yet so if you don't see me listed as a friend, feel free to do it and I will respond.  Have a great week.

Kate
