Looking For Friends

ANSWERED

Hi, I have been a fitbit user since July 2014. I wear my Flex faithfully everyday but am now just becoming truly interested in becoming more active as well as losing weight. I am just looking for a few good fitbit friends to help with my journey.

Thank you!

Hi Happy,

I got my Flex in November just for fun.  Then we rang in a new year and I just turned 60 so I figured why not use it to get fit.  Anyone looking to "compete" with someone in the 10-15K step range is welcome to add me.

I bought my fitbit yesterday. I've been using the site for a few weeks so far and would like to make some friends for some friendly competition 🙂 I'm a little over 250lbs now. I'd like to get to a healthy weight. Send me a friend request.

I am new with fitbit and want to loose 25lbs....I'm 61 so I have to work twice as hard.  I live in a very small town and am 30 miles from the nearest anything but I like being in the country.  Seems like I'm right in the middle as far as age goes.  In town here your in your 30's/40ish or late 60's/70ish so I'm pretty open and tolerant to all ages.  I'm either around someones toddlers, teens or young adults.  Anyway my goal is to get healthy and strong enough to where I won't be a burden if a catasphrophe were to occur....know what I mean >LOL

I'm aiming to lose almost 80lb and am limited to what I can do physically. I'm 62 but my brain still thinks I'm 22! I also seem to spend more time around young adults either in church or at university.

I love the way that fitbit allows you to set goals and monitor progress. I'm also getting my husband to take monthly photographs so I can see how far I've come.

Like you I want to be strong fit and healthy enough to look after myself as I get older. I live on the edge of a small town in Lancashire (UK) but would love to live in the countryside which we hope to do when my husband retires. We both love France and would like to live there.

Well hello, finally someone my age.  I do live in the country but France sounds awesome.  I also think I'm 22 but come to attn right away when my body says "we can't do that anymore!" and then I argue yes I can, no you can't.......

My heaviest (not including pregnant) was 180.  I have gone up and down thru the seasons in my life but as I get older I want to have fun, stay independant, be strong, feel good and look good.  I feel my best when I've done something physical during the day.  I have a hard time in winters because I become less active and fall into the wheres the sun depression kinda thing.

I don't believe in diets but if a person chooses one as a way of life I think that's different.  I'm going for higher protien, lower carbs and believe me I love love bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and bread and bread oh yeah I said that LOL. When I eat these things it shows right away.

My dream at 5'3" unless I shrunk again is 125 but I'm a realist so I will be ok with 145.  I'm at 154 now but it could jump to 157 by morning.  Yes I wiegh myself too much but right now it's an obsession.....hope to hear back from u.

I used to listen to my body saying we can't do that any more, but now I'm fighting back determined to prove I can. I have asthma which was very poorly controlled and my doctor had convinced me that getting breathless going uphill was just something I'd have to accept and use the blue inhaler. That put me off going uphill, which is nigh on impossible where we live so I ended up doing very little outdoor walking.

I also have a very old knee injury (dating back to when I was about 10 years old) and a couple of times my knee has given way coming downstairs, once landing me all the way down a flight of stairs and resulting in me needing the aid of a walking stick for a couple of weeks. I hated that! So I'd talked myself out of climbbing stairs in case I got breathless and of coming down stairs in case my knee gave out again.

By the time my GP had diagnosed a new pain in my right thigh as meralgia paraesthetica and told me nothing could be done because it was likely a rare side effect of my diabetes I was becoming quite sedentary because every time the pain tweeked I resorted to sitting until it stopped.

So there I was, sitting around at home, using the lifts at Uni and generally becoming quite lazy without noticing it. Then I spoke to some people who were doing research into asthma and discovered mine was poorly controled because I hadn't been given the correct preventative advice. Got that sorted out and walking uphill became much easier. I also noticed that walking through the nerve pain in my leg and not taking as much notice of it actually resulted in it wearing off. This fit bit has become my motivator and I'm feeling tons better already. Only got it earlier this month.

I've still got problems with downstairs but I can play silly games of going down escalators and up stairs, sort of like a child would go up steps and down a slide. I'm really thinking I would love a small trampoline but I'm not sure I can convince my husband that it would be useful - especially since we are trying to downsize so we can become more flexible about moving house.

I'll have a look for you on Facebook.
