Hello! I just had a double hernia surgery yesterday, and am following my doctor's orders regarding recovery. However, I am concerned about how to maintain my weight loss while unable to exercise. It has been so long since I have been inactive that I do not know how to eat for maintenance. Does anyone have any experience with surgery recovery, or recommendations for how to calculate calorie needs for this time?

@Adi80adi wishing you a speedy recovery. You need to figure out what your BMR is- I imagine you have very limited activity right now so that's probably all you are burning. Then eat to just that number. Anything over will be weight gain, anything under will be weight loss. Make sure you have good macro and micro nutrients in your calories- it is super important so your body heals efficiently and you are back to doing what you love.

Try entering your current weight and information at http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bmr/ and a goal weght maybe 5 or 10 lbs down. It will give you an idea of what your BMR is and start from there. Now, assuming you lost weight while having the surgery (not uncommon) you may gain that amount back quickly so don't worry about that.
