I'm not necessarily a new user... but I wasn't a very steady one. I've sort of fallen off the wagon!
I have hip & knee issues but still get around- sometimes with the use of a cane! I still occasionally get on the treadmill, and am a beast on the elliptical. The pool is my favorite. Daily life does keep my moving though and I go up and down stairs often-- I kind of wish I would have gotten the One now 😞 I didn't know the difference at the time! Can I use the Flex in the pool? ANYWAY- I am going to start getting back into the gym and home workouts hardcore tomorrow (this past couple of weeks I had family issues) and actually try to track my food, that's my biggest problem! I would love some motivation and friendly competition! Maybe someone to chat with along the way 🙂

Find yourself a buddy system - not one but a few - you will be encouraged every day of your life ! Good luck and keep up the good work !

The Flex still counts your steps when you go up and down stairs. No worries there. It just doesn't count the extra exertion one uses to go up an incline.
Also, as the flex is water proof, you can bring it into a pool. Be warned that most people log that sort of activity seperately though. Although you can wear it and it will record, it's a device made for step counting. Any other activity, it won't be able to read correctly.

Feel free to add me if you like. Have had my fitbit for a couple months now and really like it. Have gotten back in to the gym habit the last few years, but have been adding more cardio to last month or so to try and drop a few pounds as well. I know the flex is water resistant but dont think it would stand up to the pool. Have wondered the same thing myself as we have summer passes to the local water park, lots of walking and climbing steps when we go but have been reluctant to wear my flex in case it would get too much water or get snagged and fall off somewhere. I think for swimming would just add it manually as an activity so you at least get credit for the calorie burn.

According to FitBit the Flex can be worn in the pool and when swimming (I've worn mine in salt water with no issues) but is only water resistant to a depth of 10 meters so if you're going any deeper than 10 meters I wouldn't chance it.
