Hi Everyone!

So great to see so many of you doing well.  Wow @saraj91 & @awood08!  Great work on the 5k and 10k and you both look great!

Awesome weight loss @Bogdel & @syreina!

Hope my buddies @dianenyc@swimr12265 & JacquelineP are doing well!  It's been a little while since I logged in here.

I've been searching for motivation since the beginning of this challenge.  I was at 158 this morning, right where I started.  😞  My own fault.  I haven't been terrible, but I haven't been in the swing of things since  Christmas.  But I'm grateful that I at least haven't gained back the 15 pounds I lost Oct-Dec.  I think I would have without this group.  Anyway, went to gym Saturday and Sunday, and walked tonight.  Hoping to get some loss in before the end of challenge on Valentine's Day.

Also, lost my fitbit charger.  Will get a new one, but not logging any steps right now.  :((

Good Luck all!

@HelenKr It was great to see your post!  I've been thinking about you over the last several days and wondering where and how you were.  You may not be where you wanted as to weight, but I'm glad you are ok and still connected to the effort.

I'm about in the same spot that you are, with no loss, but I've actually gained back a few pounds since I returned home from Wyoming.  I was feeling so comfortable to be back in my own space that I've just been reveling in all my favorites, from walking trails, to old friends, to tv shows, to food. . .   So, I'm searching for motivation that is more than first-thought deep.  And I haven't been terrible, either, until the last couple of days.  But if I don't get this slacking-off under control, I'll be in trouble pretty quickly.

Seeing your name cheered me.  This is a great group, with lots of conversations and positive attitudes and much success, but some of the challenge members have now become old friends for me, since we've been through at least 2-3 challenges together.  You are a key player in my mind and I'm glad to see you back in the game and feeling ready to resume the battle!  Pretty inspriing!  Maybe I'll get a grip and get going again, too!

@syreina,
I am curious what you mean about it not being a healthy weight loss for you. You have posted some impressive numbers. Was there a problem? I'm at a very difficult time when it comes to losing weight (I've been at this place often, and I can't tell you how many times I have simply given up). I'm wondering whether you have any words of wisdom to share?

Hi @HelenKr,
Tough times for me, too. After dropping pretty steadily for weeks, I'm now at "that point." Taking off any weight from 133 or so has proven nearly impossible for me. I get discouraged and then derailed. I'm hoping that I will stay motivated and inspired by what I read in this thread. You are not alone. Let's both keep this in mind!

Thanks @swimr12265 & @HelenKr & all for your kind words. I might sign up for another 10k soon as I'm sure @awood08 will agree it's a great motivator trying to beat your previous time. Might help me stay on track with food & exercise goals whilst I'm on holiday if I know I have another run booked for when we get back... hmmm, tempting lol.

So, we are almost at the end of this challenge, I've been reading through the recent posts & some are smashing their goals & others are struggling a little but the main thing is to celebrate the fact that you are still working towards your overall goals & by checking in hopefully the support this group provides has kept your spirits up, like it has mine.

I'm more than happy to start the next challenge, I will be away from 5th of March til Easter so my posts will be few & far between. I'm sure the next challenge will make great reading, banishing the holiday blues when we are back.

Here are my stats, a few days early again. Will check in once more on the 14th. Down 1lb, yay! Smiley Happy Think the 10k & being more careful with my food has helped. I don't think I'll make my revised goal of 130lbs by the 14th but not to worry, I have been struggling with slow progress since Christmas but am still really happy to be moving in the direction I am.

Hope you all have good weeks! Smiley Very Happy

@JacquelineP & @swimr12265 - Guess we're on the struggle bus together (that is my daughter's term for challenges).  It's ok; it's all about the long term.  We'll make it!  Glad I am back to the gym and walking.  Just waiting for Thursday to see if I can use a coupon for a new Fitbit.  Will be good to be logging steps again.

Well done, @Bogdel!  That's impressive.  Just shows what you can do with a little self-control and determination.  I also like to set small goals and then celebrate when they are reached.  I think it helps a lot with keeping motivated.

@swimr12265 I think a Valentine's to Easter thing sounds like a terrific idea!  I'm giving up candy for Lent so I'm curious to see how much this affects my weight and my sugar addiction.

I have to admit to myself, that after doing that 5K on Saturday I went a little crazy on the food.  I think I was thinking "Oh! Look at me, I did a 5K!  I need Mozzarella sticks and pizza!"  Haven't been tracking my food carefully this week either.  Been a stressful work week too, so stress eating.  Back to basics!  I've met my step goal every day this work week though, so that's good.

I'm trying something new, intermittent fasting....I'm stalling out and I'm trying to tone and tighten and build muscle now. Today is day one so we shall see how this goes! Since I'm in my goal size clothing and within 15 pounds of my UGW I'm focusing my attention more on strength and weights than cardio and weight loss. I'm happy with this size and my doctor is very pleased and says I'm right on track. Hope everyone has a great week!

Hit my challenge weight for Valentines day today!  🙂    FitBit has been most inspiring.   It's all the walking that's helping. 11000 steps/day.    My husband walks w me and is feeling/looking great too.   🙂    next goal 135 by my birthday.. March 7th.

Awood-   I truly believed I fasting would work for me.......but I just stayed stuck on a plateau.  I tried it off/on for a year.    Walking/counting cals really works for me.

Ya know, it was a rough week because work/home both went supernova on the busy meter. I tried to log everyday on MFP but wasn't very accurate a few days, and I had a major (deliciously satisfying overindulgence!) setback with the Superbowl party.

However, exercise and steps were there every day this week, and I even worked out on hangover Monday. I was actually expecting a 2 lb gain with what I ate on Sunday.

And, I'm pumped now because of a 4 lbs loss this week! That should keep me above the yellow line!

2.3 lbs to lose in 4 days.....with someone sporting my stats, this can be done if I am a very good boy for these 4 days!

@saraj91,

You sound like a true runner (or at least someone who likes to do it).  I am cursed with the ability to do it fairly well ("cursed" because this ability makes me push myself to do it as well as I can--better than I can--even though I do not much like it), but the ONLY joy it brings me is when I beat my previous times.  Winning a race (I usually always win in my age bracket) is never enough.  After doing a 1:47.00 half marathon, you probably would look forward to the next one and challenge yourself to meet your goal.  I rebuked myself for not reaching my goal (1:45.0) and dread doing another one...even though I am too much a competitor to just say, "Well, I don't even like to run; I'm a swimmer!  I just won't do another one."  or "Why are you whining?  That was a decent time; you're not even a runner!"  The fact that I failed to reach my goal nags me (translation: haunts me!).  If I don't run a 1:45.00, I'll feel like a failure.  Sigh.

I am the same way about swimming.  I have a goal of breaking a minute in the 100 freestyle.  My best time since I returned to swimming after having children (I have three, ages 17, 13, and 9) has been a 1:03 (high), and I am not getting any younger (I turned 51 my last birthday).  Instead of just telling myself to enjoy what I am doing and have fun (many swimmers half my age can't break a minute!), I am constantly berating myself about my poor performance.  At least I AM a swimmer.  I really don't mind wanting to improve my swimming.  I just wish I could change this quality about myself when it comes to other things that I'm not (I'm not a runner; I'm not a bowler; I'm NOT a teenager!!).  I have to push myself in everything I do, even things I don't do often or well.  I know this is not wise, and it would make me infinitely less stressed in life to not constantly beat myself up over every perceived "defeat," (lol Smiley Very Happy!!), but I don't.  Oh well.  It does manage to keep me humble.  I always have something to work toward.  At least I am not so driven that I injure myself (I draw the line there!).  I am also glad to know that there are plenty of people who are actually happy to run that next race...good for you!  And, as you pointed out, it IS a really good way to keep the pounds at bay, and it is also easy to do anywhere as long as you have a pair of running shoes with you.  THAT is one thing I DO like about it!  It should still be warm in Australia when you get there, so you'll likely be able to keep your weight down, too.  You're double lucky!!  You don't even have to wait for that next 10K...lol.

@HelenKr,

Hey!  What coupon?  Is there a coupon out there???  I doubt you read it, but about a month ago I sent a not very kind post to the fitbit community about my Charge.  I am on my third one since last December.  It is a great product but not a very well constructed one.  If you go online, you will see that many, many people have complained about it falling apart.  I have asked the fitbit people to simply apply what I paid for the product to the new Blaze, which will not likely fall apart because it has interchangeable bands, but they refused.  They just sent me another Charge (which will fall apart, too)!  I have now become addicted to the product (curses!!), so I won't stop using a fitbit, but if I could get a discount on the Blaze (they offered me 25% off, which is something, but since their product is defective, the morally appropriate thing would truly be to stop selling the defective product and to properly compensate people for the defective product they purchased), I would perhaps get one before my third Charge bites the dust...again! The Blaze is not even scheduled to be released until March.  Please let me know!  Thx.

Hey @Samalama217,

Good idea!  Maybe I'll try to join you!  What a great idea, actually!  I gave up soda for Lent a few years ago, and now I hardly ever drink it.  Maybe that would help me with my candy "issue," as well.  Hmmmmmm

@KimShea,

HAHAHAHAHA!!  Boy, do I hear you!  I reward the smallest of accomplishments waaaaay too frequently.  I have already all but changed my weigh-in days to Wednesday.  They were supposed to be Monday, but I have been entirely too weak on Fridays (my actual cheat day) and some other days (that are NOT supposed to be cheat days at all!  Hello me!!  Didn't you say one cheat day a week?  Since when is "one" three???).  I haven't yet posted today because I KNOW (oh yeah, I know) that I am not going to be anywhere close to 131, which was my goal for Monday!  I was 134 yesterday morning.  I am going to go with that when I DO post my stats in a bit, but I am not going to get on the scale until Sunday (D Day! end of challenge) to see how close I actually come to reaching 129.  Although I'm thinking...uh, not!, I am still going to do my best.  In my crazy world "Desperate times call for desperate measures."  I didn't want to do this, but I may be fasting for quite a number of the next 4 days just to get myself back on track (although I won't fast tomorrow--I enjoy my sub sandwich from Subway much too much for that, AND it is my sister's birthday, and in my family we all go out to eat on a family birthday, so tomorrow is GOING to be a "calories in...calories in" kinda day, alas).  Since I am on my struggle bus, as @HelenKr referred to challenges in meeting goals (good one, @HelenKr!),  I am going to make my next CGW  a lot less ambitious than my current CGW.

Hey @awood08,

If you haven't already done so, read Michael Mosley and Mimi Spencer's The FastDiet: Lose Weight, Stay Healthy, and Live Longer with the Simple Secret of Intermittent Fasting (the original; there are lots of copycats).  It's a great book that will really help you get on board with intermittent fasting if you are not really clear about it or committed to it.  Although I do not find it easy to do, I definitely see the benefits of intermittent fasting and do it often.  If I stayed committed to it, I probably wouldn't keep trying to lose the same 20 pounds or so...lol.
