New here! Minimum of 32lbs to go...

Hey!
OK so i started this weight loss journey in August 2013..I had crept up to 16 stone after losing my job and having a baby..then I lost 4 stone and was so pleased, but I got to 12 stone and I got stuck (for most of 2014 actually!)
Anyway over christmas I've inevitably put around 10lb of this weight back on, but my hubby treated me to a FitBit Flex, which I got on friday! Now I need to find some motivation to get going more!
I usually go to the gym (classes) every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Well since receiving my Flex, I went out for a VERY rare night out on Friday (so no gym class), was hungover Saturday, my MIL was ill yesterday and my toddler (and I) have been ill today!! Not to mention my class instructor is away this week! I feel like I can't really get going!

Need help and motivation and inspiration..I still have a fair way to go!!!

Hi TwistedStar!

Well done on losing the weight to start with, you have got some serious determination!

It's hard when you stick at the same weight, i am the same at the moment, i have slowly been creeping up in weight since starting a new job where i dramatically changed my daily movement, and had still been eating the same so I am finding it a challenge now!

It won't be forever though so don't be disheartened, you proved you can do it before Smiley Happy

I got my fitbit flex on friday to! I am looking for some motivation to get me to my daily steps target - who knew 10,000 would be so hard to hit!

how many are you averaging per day?

I am in the same situation.  Got my FitBit Flex for Christmas, but really started using it only in the last 10 days.  I have lost 8.5 lbs the last 10 days just eating healthier and running about 2 miles a day.  I have 35 lbs to go, so if you are looking for friends and motivation in this, feel free to add me.

Kimm,

If you put in the time to run/walk 2 miles per day, that gets you about 4,000 steps.  6,000 is a normal day for most people.  I am averaging about 11,000 per day, but I am running about 2-3 miles per day.  Feel free to add me and we can all work on this together.  I want another 5-10 lbs in the next 2 weeks before I head to New Orleans 🙂 and then another 25-30 this year!

8.5lbs in 10 days! wow, well done Smiley Very Happy that is some good going!

Thankyou for the advice there, 2 miles isn't hard to do, i used to run 3.5-4 a day but have slowly slipped out of routine so starting on 2 miles will really help me to get back on track.

so you are averaging 7k steps without the exercise?

I have been doing HIIT workouts that seem to up my steps by around 3-4k, when working i havent been hitting more than 2k steps from 9-5!

how do you feel about averaging 5-10lb losses in a week?

i am hoping to lose 26lbs this year! hopefully sooner rather than later!

Thank you, will add you now and we can help to keep each other motivated!

Thanks!  I feel great and even I can start to see it.  I have actually lost almost 25 lbs since September, after sitting at or above 240 for about 5 years.  I am not a big advocate of trying to lose weight that quickly, but I am actually on the Advocare plan right now, which is a 24 day weight loss challenge/program.  The general goal is to see about a 10% weight loss in 24 days, to kick start the loss, and then you continue to lose it a little slower.  So thats why I say I'd like to see that amount in the next 2 weeks.

Yes, I average between 6,500 and 7,500 steps without exercise.  I have a very sedentary job, so I am at my desk most of the day.  But I keep a 16 oz water bottle with me, which forces me to get up about every 90 minutes or so to fill it.  And because I am drinking more water, I am taking more bathroom breaks...lol!  That keeps me active during the day.

Any tips you see working, feel free to share them!  I need all the help I can get!

sorry guys been busy and didnt see the replies! unfortunatly not busy enough though according to my readout for today! My son is poorly but getting better though so im hoping we can get out more now..as long as potential snow stays away!

I love that other people can feel so positive - it really rubs off on me and makes me want to try harder! Ive been for a short run this morning and pilates this evening, and tomorrow evening im going to a new body tone class...ive no idea what to expect but i am looking forward to it! if anyone wants to add me feel free!! 😄

wow! you should feel great, well done! what does the advocare plan involve food wise?

I am just starting with plain old healthy eating and tracking calories on MFP for now. I have used MFP for a few years on and off but find it difficult to track exact calories when making meals from home.

I have a desk job to, i used to be a dental nurse so was always on my feet and my weight gain has crept up mostly due to the change of pace on a daily basis and still eating the same. i only average 2000 steps at work a day though, will definately be taking that tip on board and only pouring half a glass of water at once so it makes me move more!!

the only thing i feel that is working at the moment is meal prep.. if i dont have my meals ready then i tend to go of target - and inputting them into MFP the night before when i prepare them helps me to stay on target for my calorie goal!

Do you meal prep at the moment?

i hope your son is ok! the snow has been crazy where i am too! we had 12 hour power cut the other day.. plenty of time for me to pace the flat and keep warm haha!

good efforts on the exercise!! you are putting me to shame! How did the body tone class go?

I have been doing charlotte crosbys workout dvd on nights that i cannot get to the gym, hoping to start classes again soon once i build up my fitness levels again - always boosts my energy when i go to classes, once i start its easy to continue its just the starting that is a problem!! 🙂
