Newly Fitbitters

Hello fellow fitbitters,

I was lucky enough to get a fitbit from Santa this year. I have already lost 10 pounds this month on my journey to lose weight. I have about 35 more pounds to go! I would love to have some active friends that would like to keep each other accountable. Just add me as a friend and let's get working on our goals to a healthy body!

Hey guys,

All of your messages sound exactly like me. I am in the same boat as all of you! I have done a juice fast in the past and I absolutley loved it! I want to do a 14 day cleanse starting January 1st. If anyone has ever thought to do it, they should! Yes you feel like crap the first few days but after that you feel like you are on top of the world.

For those who say I can't give up sweets or after a week I give up on exercise, do not let your mind tell you that! If you knew me people know me as the candy queen. I LOVE candy. I rather eat that than real food. I used to have the same mindset. I would do well for 3 days and then all of a sudden have thoughts saying "you can't reach your weight, you are fat forever". Once my mind started to tell me I couldn't reach my goals I would grab the candy and binge! How did I feel after? AWFUL! I decided right after Thanksgiving I couldn't live this way anymore. I was miserable and wouldn't go out because I was embarassed with my weight. Instead of thinking my diet has to be 100 percent perfect or there is no point, I changed it to I am eating better so I can't be too hard on myself.

Each and everyday just remember why you are doing it and it becomes a lot easier! Slow and steady is always the best! I always expected results instantly, but now I realize I have been killing my body for the last 5 years that it will take time to get where I want to be.

If any of you need any help feel free to add me! If you are doubting yourself or don't have motivation I am always here for you! You can message me anytime!.

xo, Morgan Anne

Pretty much need to read this everyday... Being the only overweight person in your friend group is a struggle when it seems like everyone else has it together. Thank you SO much for the words of encouragement and I know that we ALL can accomplish what we set out to do: not just lose weight, but become more healthy individuals, to make a real lifestyle change!

It's really great to hear so many people who are in the same boat.  I feel like I've been on this journey for years and have taken some drastic steps and done some stupid things to lose weight.  I remember thinking, Idon't want to be fat when I taken my son to school on his first day - he's 25 now and I am still battling.  Looking back though the only thing that has ever worked is better eating over a long period of time.  I had never really exercised, so I think that is why the weight has never stayed off.  So this time I am going to put the two together.  I have set myself a 7 month challenge to lose the weight sensibly and be slim, not just get slim.

Today I will start writing in all the food, the water, do 30 active minutes and 7000 steps.  I am going to a party today and Wedsnesday but I shall just manage them, it's what we have to do our whole lives.

Every day wether it's good or bad I will write few lines, just to say how it's been, hope others will too.  It would be nice to get to know you all through this journey, so we really can help.  So Morgan Anne the juice fast sounds tough so let us know how it's going every day, SK_o615 hope you write as well as read everyday, JD Dragonfly - you've gone through a lot and more to do, it would be great to support you, and the other people who have posted and friended each other - I think we can really help each other in a way that maybe the people in our daily lives can't - we are in this together.

I am so excited to start this! I haave friended some of you awesome ladies too, in hopes of getting my act together, lol! I totally know what SK is saying about being the heavy on in your group. It's been that way since high school, and I;m 34! I've lost and gained so many times and I now have a 6month old little man to worry about and be here for. I never thought I'd be so cliche, ha, but there it is!! My saint of a husband finally talked me into having a baby and while it is so much more fun that I ever imagines... it's also exhausting! So it's time to get these 75lbs off for good.
Ugh, I hate even having to type it out. Seventy-five POUNDS y'all! WHAT! How did that happen!.
Oh, I remember now... mini cupcakes and the couch. That's how that happened.

Speaking of water tracking... I don't think I've drank this much water a day in my life. I'm up to 32oz thanks to the silent alarm, and another 32 to go. I set it every two hours to remind myself to drink a glass and it's been working so far (well, for the one day I had the idea!). Knowing myself, I just won't drink anything all day long until it's 9PM and I realize how thirsty I am. It also helps me to get off my butt at work and walk to the kitchen!

End of day one - 2 successes 1 failure.  I did over my daily goal (7k) steps, I did 33 active minutes (last three dancing round kitchen to get them in!) but did not log food, went to party, had pizza, apple pie and wine - so 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but not good enough - how did everyone else do?

You did a great job yesterday Vix! Don't think of your not logging food as a failure, it's a work in progress. We're all trying to change everything all at once and it's going to take a LOT out of us to make these conscious decisions. We're going from not making decisions about what to eat, to deciding and recording everything we put in our mouths. It went from "I want this piece of pizza" to "How many calories are in this piece of pizza? If I eat this piece of pizza, will I not be able to eat anything later on to stay within my calorie count? What if I'm hungry later?"  It's HARD. The fact you are trying to accomplish this lifestyle change is amazing in itself.

A funny little tidbit about my day yesterday:

I hate drinking water. If I had it my way, I would never drink water. My boyfriend used to remind me throughout the day to drink it. Ugh. Well, since I set those alarms I have a little buzz every time I need to drink some and it got SO annoying yesterday. I went home last night and almost threw my flex across the room because it buzzed for the 7th time to remind me to drink water. I quickly calmed myself and drank my water, but I wasn't happy about it. Hopefully that will change. Which reminds me, I'm about 7 minutes behind in drinking my 9AM cup o' H2O.

Count me in!  I got my FitBit Charge for Christmas and I'm completely obsessed with it.  As a former athlete, I've never really dieted - I always just excercised more and the weight took care of itself, and I ate what I wanted.  Now as I've gotten older, had a kid, gotten a desk job, and let things slide, I find that getting back into the exercise routine is not as simple as it used to be. It's not going to solve my current problem, because I tend to do too much too fast and injure myself (stress fractures in both shins last time around!).  My brain may feel 18, but it's time to admit my body is 41!  This time, I'm trying to make it as much about portion control as it is about moderation in exercise.  I have to admit, even just a 250 calorie deficit per day has been tough for me to cope with! So this will be interesting.

I just got a fit bit and am trying to get motivated as well! I really could use some more people to get linked up with for a little encouragement...I have between 30 to 45 pounds to lose. But in general I just want to be as heart healthy as possible...

I feel like a massive failure today, I haven't been as productive as I would like to be. However my water intake has gone up which I'm happy about. It also gave away all of my sweets from Christmas so that I am not tempted to eat them and fall back into doing nothing.
My biggest worry at the minute is NY my boyfriend is taking me to dinner and I know that that will use up a lot of my calories, plus some alcohol if I choose to have some, but it's new year we all deserve a drink.
Why do Christmas and NY have to be so close to each other!!!!!!

rjnewtonn -- not even close to being a failure. You've upped your water intake and threw out tempting sweets! Sounds like a total win there. I'll say the same thing to you as I did to Vix. This is HARD. Be happy that you're worrying about things like this and that you are taking action on your health.

So what if every once in a while you have a drink or a nice dinner for a special occassion? The way you eat now has to be sustainable. I've seen healthy people order a big steak and a glass of wine because they're celebrating, BUT their choices every other day of the year are very thought out. Are you going to be able to stave off a glass of champagne or a bottle of beer your whole life? Of course not!

The way I'm approaching the holidays is that this is a special time of year, and it's not every day that I get the opportunity to have this nice drink, eating great food, and around amazing company (although I'm spending mine alone this year as the boyfriend is in Cali with his family). It becomes a problem when that's your everyday lifestyle. The next day, walk more, or exercise for an hour longer, eat fewer calories.

To everyone else, WELCOME! Feel free to add me as your friend/motivator/fitness buddy!
