Not Losing Weight - Why Not?

I don't understand this - I'm around 1.5 stone more than the weight that seems right for me and I decided to diet. First let me tell you what I regularly had before that I have completely cut out - Cake, biscuits, Sweets, Apple pie, Ice cream, Sausages, Burgers, Chips, Pies, Roast Dinners, Chocolate, Crisps. We're not talking a little bit here, I would have some of nearly every item, every day. I have stopped that for the last 3 weeks and substituted it all for a chicken breast grilled with salad leaves, cucumber, celery and either a baked potato or sometimes tinned new potatoes - and puddings of fresh chopped fruit with yoghurt. Grim, yes. However, week one I lost 3 pounds. Week 2 I lost zero pounds, week 3 I lost 1/2 pound. Possibly part of the problem is I have a slice of toast in the morning (previously nothing) then nothing till nighttime (and I've always done that, not just part of my diet). I walk a lot with the dog but that is the extent of my exercise. 

So, why is it not falling off me if I've stopped eating all the junk? If it makes no difference why give it up? HELP - what am I doing wrong?

Sounds like like it is time to change things up. You are basically doing one meal a day with a piece of (dry?) toast in the morning.  Flip it.  Eat your big meal in the morning, chicken, potatoes, whatever, and have maybe have a small amount plain unsweetened yogurt in the evening some fresh or frozen fruit. You may not do this now because are not hungry in the morning, or maybe you don't want chicken and salad in the morning, but you may eat less for that very reason.  And after a few days of not eating at night, you WILL be hungry in the morning, but you will probably still feel fuller on less, since it will be new routine.

A better long term plan would be to add some grains and beans and variety to your salads, and trying for three or four meals a day at regular times (planning what you eat and doing it on routine schedule can help a lot). Come up with some 400-500 healthy calorie meals you can eat when you go out with friends/family so that you have some options when you eat with friends/family and don't backslide into the junk food meals you used to eat).

Also, you don't say anything about what you drink. Liquid calories can add up fast and you may not even notice you are doing it.

It's tough, but keep at it.
