I have my goal set to 7500 steps, but don't hit my calorie burn unless I do around 12000 steps, when I started I could barely do 5000 steps, now most days I do at least 10000, but that calorie burn is a tough one, keep going, you are doing awesome 🙂

First question would be which fitbit model do you have?
The device takes the personal information you input (hight, weight, activity level, etc) and calculates a BMR (Basil Metabolic Rate). It then assumes a straight line burn of estimated calories unless there is additional activity. It attempts to determine the intensity of that activity and add the calories burned for the activity into its ongoing calculation of BMR. Different devices have different capabilities to estimate your activity intensity (i.e.: just steps within a given time (run vs walk), floors climbed and heart rate). You set your own goals and fitbit just attempts to estimate how many calories you do burn and compare them to your goal.
10K steps is widely considered the minimum steps anyone should take, but that has nothing to do with setting the goal calories. I believe 3k calories is the default, but you can set that where you want. Your choices then are to lower that goal or increase your activity. You can go on the dashboard of the web site, click on the gear icon in the tile that shows your daily steps and you'll see the settings you can change.

the only time I hit my calorie goal (2192) is on the weekend when I run 8 miles, clean the house and run errands all on the same day. As long as you are in the zone or under budget depending on your goals, its not a deal breaker if you don't hit it. as long as you are moving and fueling smart- you will see and feel a difference.

The length of performance would vastly improve your caloric burn. You can burn the 2,672 calories if you engage in performance more. 10,000-20,000 steps would definitely do it but also a higher burn rate ratio such as on the elliptical trainer with a heart rate monitor and setting your cardio to 130-147 avg.

I have a Fitbit Charge HR, by the way. Sorry for not mentioning it .. 🙂
OK.. I'll take some this info and put it to use and see if I can manage to hit the goal mark.. 😉
Not having any source of gym equipment at home, or membership, leaves only the WiiFit Board for me to work out on. So looks like I have to start getting alitlle more creative with it for a longer time spam..
Thanks all.. 🙂
