Office workers unite!!

Hi All,

I'm a 25 year old female and have worked in an office since I was 17...guess what...I got fat!!! Sitting on my backside for 8 hours a day and being too tired to do anything when I get home, oh, and of course when its someones birthday in the office and they bring cake...it would be rude not to right?!?!?!

I'm now trying to turn my life around and lose weight and get fit and healthy, looking for friends who have the same problems and aims as me...

I also use my fitness pal to keep track of what im putting into my body, my username is LilMissLisaC

Thanks xx

I'm going to try to follow everyone's suggestions and only weigh once a week - on Wednesdays. I have a terrible habit of weighing every morning. The thing is, I use it as motivation. So I will have to find that elsewhere. For me, it isn't about the number....it used to be, for years....now it is about feeling good and clothes fitting comfortably!

Thanks for reminding me only check in weekly instead of daily! 🙂

2 days in a row there has been birthday cake bought in to the office.. 2 days! So far I've resisted, but gosh is it tough! I picked up some 100 calorie bags of popcorn on my lunch break today so if my craving for something sweet does go into overdrive I am armed lol!

More cake.. & it's not even someones birthday!

What is wrong with people... I blame the Great Birtish Bake of making everyone want cake lol!

Hope you've all had a good week 🙂

Hello Everyone! I'm a 23-year old girl working in an office environment too. I just got a Fitbit today and still trying to figure out how things work. Hopefully this will motivate me to lose some weight and get fit!

Hello Everyone,

I have read all 6 pages of posts here... I am an Office worker for the first time in years.. I was an Aircraft Mechanic so I was contanstaly moving and doing things to keep the weight off.. but over the years of working nights and not really doing any excerise and now being in an office job well I had weight that I really needed to lose. So from March to July I went as High as 219lbs... and I am getting a Fitbit for Christmas this year..I am also a member on MFP.. and joined a gym that I have not really accessed but about half a dozen times.. so I am looking to make friends in this community as well as within MFP to keep the motivation going to get down to the goal weight of 185..

I have started getting out and walking on my breaks at work and started using a pedometer program called pacer and on average I am getting about 7k to 8k every day... working to be consistantly hitting at least 10k and really want to be hitting 12k to 14k every single and hope that by getting a Fitbit it will encourage me to get up and move around more and stop letting myself get stuck behind the computer for hours...

Anybody who would like to add me as a friend I would love... I will try to post here every few days and will respond when someone posts or sends me a message.

thanks and look forward to meeting friends and getting to my goal weight.

Hi all,

I'm also new to fitbit (got for my birthday last week).  I'm a 45 year old mom of three, and I work as an operations supervisor in a federal office building.  Been here 21+ years.  Sigh.  We too bring in food for every little thing, plus our office is RIGHT next door to a bakery.  A BAKERY!  Come on!

So far I've not come close to the 10K steps a day, but I'm trying to increase my step count daily.  Some days are easier than others.

On MFP I'm KimShea01 and I love some fitbit friends to do office challenges with!

Hi,

I am back in an office job after 11 years staying home and raising 5 kids, then 3 years of night shift stocking shelves at a local retailer. I am 41 and discouraged. In the 14 months I have been back in an office in have lost 3 years of muscle and gained way too much weight.

Everyone says eat less, move more and I agree, but... When I go home my mind is mush and I am so tired from sitting all day my get up angora has already left. My step goal is currently set to 5k, I often struggle to reach that. I have friends on here and accept many challenges. It generally helps me to try a little harder even though I am usually last. 😊

I stopped using my fitnesspal because I lost motivation. The only friend I had on there hadn't logged in for 6 months. Lol. I have decided it's time to put my health back into focus...which means losing a lot of weight. Sadly a full sized adult worth ( I will miss Tim Hortons! 😢), roughly 120 pounds.

I would really love friends who face the same occupational hazard to do challenges with! 😆

I keep an exercise step at my desk.  On lunch I close my office door and step while I watch a tv show on my computer or listen to music.  50 minutes gives me about 5000 steps and it is actually more exercise than just walking.

I've do some stepping behind my desk. By trade I'm a field person but working for the federal government means loads of reports. I get laughed at by my neighboring coworkers. Especially when I throw some somba and chacha moves in the mix. Bur it's all in good fun.

Hi everyone! Working in an office environment can be hard. I've also been working in an office for the last 8 years and I've gained some weight since then Robot Sad. It is hard to lose that weight but what I try to do is stand up and walk a bit (this is also good for your blood circulation and avoid varicose veins). Doing some dance moves is a great idea @Aqua671, I'll try it!

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate! I haven't posted in here in a while. Work has been stressful as usual, even more during the year end. I have lost 55 pounds so far and still have another 20 I want to lose over the next year 🙂 I hope all of you are meeting your goals and having a happier healthier life!

I'm an office worker too, full time since August, and frequently more than full time.

Finding time to walk is going to be difficult, so I guess it will be first thing in the morning for a while, especially while it's too hot at lunch time.
