Office workers unite!!

Hi All,

I'm a 25 year old female and have worked in an office since I was 17...guess what...I got fat!!! Sitting on my backside for 8 hours a day and being too tired to do anything when I get home, oh, and of course when its someones birthday in the office and they bring cake...it would be rude not to right?!?!?!

I'm now trying to turn my life around and lose weight and get fit and healthy, looking for friends who have the same problems and aims as me...

I also use my fitness pal to keep track of what im putting into my body, my username is LilMissLisaC

Thanks xx

I am facing winter here, so I understand the weather challenges. Good luck. I have gotten to the point that I pace at my desk periodically! It's the little bits that help.

7-4 office worker. Also work the weekends for Lyft. my daily buildup is if I'm not tired at 3am, go. Elliptical machine HR interval 130-147. If I'm energetic enough, 130-170 to Fitbit the Peak Performance. Try to keep going towards the 10,000 steps goal in the morning before breakfast to burn mega calories.

I am in the same situation. I've been working in front of a computer since I was 18. I am now 25 and gained a ton of weight. We would always order out and just snack as the time would go by. Now that I have my fitbit, I can see how much that I move throughout the day. I've made a few friends here and seeing how well they're doing now motivates me to move more. I am working on goals for myself now so that I can move more while I'm in the office. We can all overcome the office sickness *butt sitting syndrome lol*. I'm looking for many friends that I can share my struggles and successes with. Add me people!!! Smiley Tongue

As kids we learn to eat at specific times, just because it's time to eat (breakfast / lunch / dinner) even though our bodies may not need more foods / energy yet. Not being hungry, still feeling comfortably satisfied.. which leads to overeating..

If just eaten dinner at the evening the day before (instead of earlier in the day), it's possible to not be hungry yet at breakfast.. and hunger may come at noon or afternoon, depending on how much has been eaten, and your body telling it's needing more nourishment.

Instead of eating at specific times, try eating when your body is asking for more nourishment and when eating at a specific time (dinner with family).. if feeling just could eat a little bit without force feeding in the moment, eating slower until comfortably satisfied (not needing to have a huge portion if not so hungry).. and have more later on.. and if really can't eat anything in the moment, it's possible to eat your dinner later on when your precious body is ready for more nourishment.

It can be tricky to listen to our bodies internal wisdom, though our bodies are very clever and let us know what it needs, when it needs, when needing to force feed (not needing more), still feeling comfortably satisfied.. or increasing appetite / hunger signals to tell when having more.

Regaining trust with our bodies can take a while, every day becoming better. Some days can mean eating less than usual, other days can feel like having a feast.. our bodies balancing everything out when trying listening to most of the time.

Eat slower until comfortably satisfied, enjoy your choices.

Since hunger / appetite / satisfied signals can be out of whack if food choices mainly are from 'junk foods', these signals can become more clear when eating natural foods as minimal as processed overall (fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, fish..).. while having anything else in moderation..

Avoiding foods as much as possible when possible, which can still be consumed in x years, which contain added sugars, or which contain ingredients not able to pronounce..

Natural foods leave our bodies more satisfied, on lower calories overall. Prepackaged junk foods which contain added sugars.. are higher in calories, leaving less satisfied, and wanting more from (adding up in calories while still possibly leaving your body hungry)..

It's not that those foods are off limit or having a little treat now and then.. though when aiming to eat natural foods first, then having a little treat (when there's a bit of space left, being so satisfied already, automatically eating less)..

Have Fun

It is hard to get over 10,000 for me also, sitting at a desk all day is not our friend!  What I have started doing is getting on my treadmill in the morning for one milk (15-20 minutes walking fast) then take breaks at work to walk around, do the stairs a few times, I am lucky to have a large area I can walk in in the winter, I have been going to a gym at noon with friends, we do 20 minutes of warmups on the treadmill then hit the weights then back to work.  Then I walk again at my break, usually if I do all this I can get my steps in during the week, but it is a struggle but one I need to continue.  I am adding you as friend.
