Over 40 but still going to do it...

I've gotten out of the habit of my daily exercise and getting ready to hit 45.  I would like some over 40 friends to help keep me motivated but aren't going all out crazy.  Right now just trying to reach my 10k steps a day while working at a desk job all day.

Happy to join the club and recognise the situation and I could do with similar motivation. I'm past the 45 but am determined to change before the big 50.  (1.5 years to go)

Sounds great!  That 50 seems to be looming.. lol

Hi,

I'll join you.  I'm about to turn 42 and also work a desk job.  It's so bad my step goal is 7000.  Hopefully I'll get to 10,000 one day.  I'm trying to work on the nutrition side of it also.  I lost about 30 pounds 4 years ago but have gained about half of it back in the last year.  But I also refuse to give up.  We can do this.

To all of you youngsters: I was 52 when I started by fitness journey with Fitbit. It’s never too late to get started, and you’re getting a hefty head start on me! I’ll soon turn 56 and I’ve never been in better shape and health in my entire adult life.

Add me. I just turned 47 and completed my first 5 mile run a few weeks ago. I work a desk job but I still aim for 10K steps a day. I also lift weights and run on the treadmill on work days. I'm going to start counting my calories more agressively too.

I also started my fitness journey after 40 and I have never looked or felt better. Its actually pretty awesome to be 46 and have arguments if that's my real age or I am adding on. I never believed women who would go on a soapbox about the 40s and how awesome they are. I now have the tallest soapbox. This is the best age- until I hit 50...Good luck to all of you in your fitness journey- enjoy every minute.

Didn't start off so hot today! So glad to hear I'm not alone. 🙂  If any of you would like to add me as a friend, that would be great too. 🙂

How big is your company on email?  When I was working (retired now at 62) I'd walk to the other persons office instead of emailing simple requests.  Once an hour get up and move-walk to the break room for coffee or the restroom (whichever is furthest).  If you work in a downtown area, get outside and walk on your lunch hour.  A walk after (or before) dinner is a good way to add steps, and it will help energize you after a day in the office as well.  All these will help to add steps.  If you've been out of the habit of movine, set your starting goal lower.  Track one days ordinary steps and then add 500 to that number.  Once you met that goal for several days, raise it another 500 etc etc.

Our company is only 4 people in the office and very small.  I have thought about getting out on my lunch and walking.  It's finally warming up here so I just need to set my mind to it and get it done.

Thank you!!!

I just hit 45 in December and have decided it's time to get serious! My daily goal is only 7500 right now but am working to raise it in stages. The weather always plays havok on my excercise in winter but I'm not going let that stop me anymore! 🙂   Kim

I didn't think I did too well last week but got my weekly report and had increased my steps by quite a bit.  I also got signed back up at the gym so no more excuses of the weather. Got 7500 steps yesterday by going to the gym.  I've only been averaging 4000 so that was a great increase.  How are you guys all doing?

I'm here! 45 year old woman who's got 5 months before she hits 46. I started the year 50 pounds overweight, but I've started eating according to the DASH eating plan and have given up my vice—3-4 bottles of soda a day! I've lost 8 lbs so far, and I'm getting back into working out daily again. Simple stuff—Walk Away the Pounds—but it's making a difference.

I work from home and have three kids between five and seven and a spouse battling cancer. Busy is my life, but I'm trying really hard these days to make time for ME!

Let's do this, people!

After only being active two days last week, I got up at 4:00 AM and hit the gym today. I hate having to get up that early but it's the only time of the day that I'll never have a conflict. I'm focusing on getting my discipline back.

I am going to 40 end of this yr. Fitbit helps me a lot keep track of motivating myself to beat my yesterday's step count.

I joined a few groups here and the daily challenge, goal day challenge, weekend warrior challenge has helped me push and do those extra steps. Its more of a friendly challenge so its not to beat anyone, but to just beat our own goal and do better every week.

Feel free to add me as a friend and we can motivate each other that way.
