I injured my left ankle 6 weeks ago and have been sidelined as a result. A fall led to a torn tendon and a "boot" for the last month. Now I am in physical therapy, but still restricted in what I can do. I am beyond discouraged because I was working out and walking before this injury, and have gained several pounds back already. I tried yoga, but cannot flex my foot. I have been lifting upper body weights, but IMMEDIATELY put on 2 pounds and freaked out. To be honest, my nutrition is not as "on point" as it once was, but it is not terrible either. I just miss being active and need some accountability to do what I can and not fall back on the "it hurts" excuse.
Any suggestions on how to stay active over the next month while I work my way through PT and full fitness? Anyone want to help keep me on track while I recover?

Do you have access to a pool? Its not weight bearing.
But it really is all about what you put in your mouth more than Exercise.
This statement really rang a few bells for me

You cant exercise now so don't blow it eating wise. Its probably why you are gaining.
Doing weights is good and if your muscles are sore they will retain water to repair themself's. Which also could be why you gained. But don't stop. Its good for you.
Hang in there. Things will get better once you are healed

The gym I belong to has "chair arobics" one of the exercise they do has the client sit on a chair, pick up some 5 pound weights and then slowly lower the weights down their sides, first one side then the other. They also do forward bends until they can touch their toes, also twisting from side to side. They do as much as they can sitting on chairs just to elevate their heart rate. You can do ab crunches or kneeling push ups. Keep active as much as you can without causing stress on your foot because when you go back to doing regular work outs it is going to be more difficult.
