Hi Blackbandit, I've just read your post and feel immensively motivated.  I'm just getting back to fitness after an intense year of parttime study + full time working and now have 7 months off til next course starts.  Gym, gardening, walking, swimming all on the list + better eating.  Your post is very encouraging.

Terrific post... lots of detail.  For me I start, do well, but fail after a few days or maybe two weeks when I see no change.  I am a wine lover and can not seem to get rid of it, but I know alot of that is stress related, coming home from work and having that first glass signals I am done for the day.  Stress does add weight as well, great excuse to eat a vat of mashed potatoes.  so I am now officially "starting over" or "starting new" whatever saying I use.  Need alot of changes to shed this weight.  Always was thin until I got to the 50's, now it seems every year I add another 2 or 3 pounds, and it is just daunting some days.  I have had the fitbit for awhile but never wore it consistently.  Am now doing so and trying to add some "friends" to motivate me.  I love the buzz when I hit 10,000 steps

your post was very motivating for me!

Re-boot today for me...

Scale and I keep heading in the wrong direction...

Need to be honest with myself, not give into the daily temptations, and buckle down here....

I need to lose ~40 pounds. Don't want to beat myself up about this. Hard on the self esteem when I head the wrong direction on this weight loss/health journey.

Any help for those will power challenging moments much apprecited.

I didn't do that good today. I was proud of myself because at work a lot of
food was brought in and I ate salad, and very small portion of sheppards
pie, tried a small bit of some sort of bean salad. No pasta, no bread, no
dessert. I felt full and satisfied. It wasn't until I was driving to an
appointment that I realized how proud I was of myself. I came home and had
two hamburgs and a handful of Doritos. Not good, and no walk or gym today.
Tomorrow is a new day. How are you doing?

I have been successful with Myfitnesspal.com. it also connects to fitbit which is very handy.

Dr.Oz says if you drink coffee(cafine) in the morning you get a low in the afternoon.

I have the decaf with far less cafine and does not interupt my sleep.

Don't think of loosing 80 lbs. take 7 percent of your weight and loose that number. Make small goals. If you weigh 180 x 7% =12lbs when you reach that make another goal. Works for me.

no I am not following an eating plan. I eat yogurt (80 cal) mixed with
brazil nuts, chia seeds, protein drink, oats and almond milk sometimes I
add
goJi beans. this fills me up until lunch. Then I have something small and
dinner. Its not working. also I started going to the gym. ugh... difficult
road. Good luck.

Please tell me how you connect your fit bit with my fitness pal.

What you described sounds like healthy eating. It is the binging and snacking that gets me
