AWESOME girlfriend! In the quest of losing weight, for whatever reason, it helps so very much to share your highs and lows with others. There are always going to be obstacles/hiccups, etc.; don't allow yourself to set goals which aren't obtainable. And, don't sit & get so down, that you can't get back up! If you do, you could easily "crash & burn". Be a cheerleader for yourself ; laugh so much that you may need to wear those "Depends" all the time!! The word of God says that" laughter doeth good like a merry medicine"!!
Hope this will help in a small way, to put a smile on your face!

I am starting over - today. I started out 2015 very positive and did well with my FitBit Charge. Then came husband's illness, many new diagnosis for him and his failing health (which is ongoing). I became a full time caregiver. I must have used this excuse to eat and eat and eat. I'm up quite a bit again and the fat all came around my middle. I am not "trying" to start-over today - (that is a cop-out). I AM starting over today. I've spent my life looking for the magic diet but I know that only reducing calories and moving more actually work. I'm entering my food in the fitbit ap and my activities. I am older (66) and have set a daily goal of 3,000 steps. That doesn't sound like much, does it? But it is a lot for me and far more than I've been doing. So, here we go. . .

I actually got through one day - first day in a long time I was able to eat healthy. This morning went to the Senior Center where we have a wonderful pool and participated in the water arobics. I feel hopeful fir the first time in a long time that I can get to feeling better again. Starting over is hard - but it can be done.

Also felt "dug in" and demoralized but the only thing to do -- is to do something. Glad to hear you have an action plan and got started on it. There will be down days; we all have them. Learning to be active again requires forming the habit of being active: Devote time each day and prioritize it into your day; if you wait to "make" time for exercise, it will not happen: we must set this time aside. For me, this means going to group exercise classes at my local YMCA Monday thru Friday. I had to work up to this level of activity. Good luck to all of us as we work on reclaiming health!

I've lost around 84 pounds since this time last year, 70 of which were with Fitbit. I'm near my target now. My advice is, make it a routine, one that you get so used too it feels odd not doing it, like not brushing your teeth. I do around 2 hourly walks a day averaging about 15000 steps now, but start small and work your way up.
Another piece of advice I will give is, if you slip up, and you are more than likely to slip up from time to time, dont let it get you down, just pick up where you left off the next day. No harm done.
Finally, enjoy your excercise. I listen to my favourite pod casts when out walking, I find myself looking forward to my walks each day, I almost treat it as 'down time'.
For calorie counting I link Myfitnesspal to Fitbit, which works well enough.
Best of luck to everyone who is starting out just as I was this time last year !

Hi there. I agree with everything you mentioned about the Fitbit. It is so awesome to see how active you are throughout the day and how it keeps you on track to reaching your goals. I have an iniital goal of 30 lbs...but ultimately need to lose about 60 lbs.
I've been tracking everything I eat (which holds me accountable) and working out at least 45 min (5-6 days) in addition to my steps. So far, I haven't had to really restrict myself ( I love to eat) but it keeps me focused on what I put in my mouth. I'd love to be Fitbit Friends...just add me.

Hi Scottie girl! Jusst read your post & I just wanted to encourage by reminding you to completely focus on the achievements you've already accomplished; both weight & your FitBitting!! Congratulations for getting up & out, rather than bemoaning what you haven't done yet.
Keep your eye on the "goal" with anticipation....Go girl, GO!!

Concentrate on the food intake first. That is 80% of the battle. Log into myfitneepal a great tracker and be honest of what your intake is. The more you exercise the more you can eat. I lost 30lbs over a year's time. 1lb a week.(slowly) I have been maintaining the weight I am now but I want to continue loosing another 10lbs. I find I can only loose if I log my food and have the program count the calories.Good Luck

Blackbandit congratulations! Just wonderful results!
I am eating the LCHF way too, but not moving a pound. I average 10,000 steps a day and I know that is good for health but wont move the weight. I do 18:6 intermittened fasting and am never hungry on this diet. I dont know if you have heard of the site, Dietdoctor.com which is all about LCHF eating. Free for the first month, there are tons of wonderful lectures, videos and suggestions there. At the moment there is also a weight loss challenge where they give you menu plans for each day and weekly shopping list. I am just not moving the lbs:( I also eat only when hungry which is maybe 2 x a day.)
Suggestions?
BTW I am reading a book that you might find interesting " The art and science of Low Carbohydrate Living" by Jeff Volek ph D and Stephen Phinney MD Ph D. I feel that LCHF eating is the best way to eat for good helath but would like to loose 10- 14 lbs. Is that too much to ask?:D
BTW I Am 64, 5'4" and stuck at 143 lbs:(:(:(
