Understanding Suggested Calories

ANSWERED

I've set a weight loss goal within Fitbit and I'm wondering if the calorie goal that

I see is intended to factor in a deficit or to make an estimate of how many calories

I'm burning each day and I should aim to eat far fewer than the calories recommended?

Can anyone explain how that function works?

As long as you've set up a weight loss goal in your Fitbit account, it should reflect the deficit you chose.

I have mine set to a deficit of 500 calories so yesterday, when I burned a little over 3000 calories throughout the day, Fitbit updated throughout the day so by the end of the day I could have eaten up to 2500 calories and still been in the zone for how many calories I should have consumed. I ended up only consuming about 2300 calories so Fitbit showed me as under budget.
