What Weight Loss Programs Is Everyone Doing?

I have a library of programs. I love the The Firm programs but I'm starting Shaun T's Focus T25 in September. Is anyone else working out with any programs?

Always,

I tried insanity last year. It was a good workout and I lost weight, but a lot of it was too hard on my knees. I had to change most of the exercises to be more joint friendly

Diet is for weight loss - done right just fat loss, done wrong includes muscle mass loss.

Exercise is for heart health and body improvements - done right can support fat loss, done wrong can cause muscle loss. But usually causes weight gain.

Only stating that because the only thing exercise has to do with diet and weight loss is making your daily burn bigger, which means to eat less is eating more than you would without the workout - and you may be able to adhere better.

I only mention that because the body improvements from all the workouts mentioned so far is usually weight gain, water weight, and as such you'll see no drop on the scale at first for a while.

Despite their ads, don't view them as weight loss programs or you'll be disappointed at some point.

I work out with a trainer twice a week, we don't have a specific program that we follow. We do upper body one day then lower the next then we mix it up by using all the muscles on another. I saw a dietician and was put on a low carb plan, it similar to paleo where I eat fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats and stay away from white bread, flour, potatoes and rice.

I also have lots of dvd's after I have given alot away...however right now is turbo fire (i'm on week 5) with 1 day of the firm (i'm crazy) and a schedual of jog/walking/hiking. I am seeing results but I am also eating really well. It's a  combo. I tried insanity 2 years ago but I have the start of carpel tunnel and after a month my wrists hurt to much to keep going. My goal now is to try whatever i want as long as I'm having fun!

No expensive programs like JC, NS, or WW...or costly gyms that I never go to....

Just my doc telling me at the end of Oct 2013 I had Type II Diabetes.  I already have MS and take synthroid for chronic thyroiditus.  I was at 300+ lbs, then.  Fast forward to today....170 lbs.

I'm a guy who's 58 and 5'8".  All my body parts function okay so I can do walking and running.

Cals a day avg 1.2 K, cals burned a day avg 2.7K-3K (walking 6-10 miles a day), no processed foods, very little (if any) bread AND NO SNACKING!!!

It's worked for me....not saying it's for everyone, but if you don't exist for emotional support from others, you can do it..

I started weight watchers (online member - can't abide meetings of any sort) at the end of January and gradually increased my general daily activity. In July I started the New Rules for Lifting For Women.  Sometime this summer I started tracking steps and walking outside for mileage.  I also began to be more conscious of carb/fat/protein/fiber intake - it is very possible to under eat on Weight Watchers if you are active, and highly likely to not get enough protein if you are active (WW generally subscribes to the "subsistence" theory of what is adequate protein).   The NRLW is helping me both regain muscle I lost and add - my weight has not changed more than a pound in the past 4 or 5 weeks or so however I have lost flab and a shorts size in the past 6 weeks.

My family (husband and two adult daughters) have had amazing success with a health program that is based on learning daily habits that shape our health. We have a free health coach that guided us through the program. We also got on a medically based plan to help jump start our weight loss. My husband loss over 100 lbs in 9 months and I loss 70 lbs in 10 months. Our daughters loss 60 lbs and 30lbs in 3-5 months. AND the weight has stayed off, because of what we've learned.

  • Jenny Craig diet
  • AM - Strength Training
  • PM - Walk the dog, then Focus T25

I stopped for a while on T25, but I'm rejoining it because I remembered I used to be 15% body fat with them. 30% today since I quit doing night classes 2 months ago. Cardio running ain't cutting it for me.

Going to stick with T25 this time for 4 straight months doing night classes every night and 2-3 sessions per day off. Fight for the elusive 15% again and get down to 8% by December.

I try to follow Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman, wear my fitbit religiously and have just started taking Skinny Fiber.  It helps curb cravings and makes me feel full sooner.  I am an emotional eater and I find it really helps me think twice about what I am eating.I also do a lot of walking.  I have 70 lbs. to lose.

I am using my fitbit and doing Shakeology at this point - been a great system for me so far! Lost 10 pounds already!

I've counted calories since I was in high school and I'm 61 now.  So that works for me because I'm so familar with it.  When I really want to drop a few pounds I'm pretty strict in my calorie counting and in logging.  Otherwise I just count my calories in my head each day.

I also exercise quite a bit. I'm primarily a runner but walk a lot too. I also do some weight lifting. I have a treadmill, stairstepper, stationary bike, weight bench and free weights.  The indoor equipment keeps me active in the Winter as I live in the northeast.

I'm a firm believer in calorie counting and exercise.  Whatever plan anyone can develop for themselves with that in mind should work with some tweaks and balancing along the way.  There are always adjustments to be made.  It really comes down to finding something that works for you as an individual and most plans are calorie based. Add in some exercise and you should see some changes.  Set small goals and as you have sucess you will be encouraged to set more goals.  One step at a time.

I am doing HMR weight loss, which is offered through the hospital along with cardio and weights.  I have only been at it officially 2 weeks though.  I have lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks.  "Slow and Steady wins the race".

I'm somehow skeptical anyone could go from 15% to 30% body fat in just 2 months time. What method was used to determine body fat?

I use the intermittent fasting program. 16/8 - 16 hours fast a day, 8 hours feeding window a day.  I know it's not for everyone but as I have always stuggled with binge eating, IF has changed my life. Small, low calorie meals a few times a day left me hungry & craving.  If I overate at night I would be up over my calorie limit for the day very quickly.  With IF i get to eat this gigantic healthy meal, eat until I'm completely satisfied, go to bed with a nice full belly and still end up UNDER my daily calorie limit.

At 5'7 289lbs I was slow, tired, in pain, and humiliated.  In the beginning I could not do much of anything let alone any aerobics or high impact exercise.  I found these videos on YouTube. Walking workouts by Leslie Sansone.  WALKING IN PLACE!! They were fun and worked.

In the last year i have lost 100lbs.  I have not reached my goal yet but I am getting there! So thats what has worked for me.  With someone that has 100+ lbs to lose, I'm sure what works may be significantly different for someone with far less to lose.

GOOD LUCK ALL! I LOVE MY FITBIT!
